I like T-mac to play the Ariza role.

Lets see, Contract Year + Chance to prove himself + Shot at Ring + Chance to play with Kobe + No pressure to play big minutes = Insanely useful TMac imo.

He's actually a pretty unselfish player and a good passer when he can fit in, similar to Ron. Also I think he's plenty capable of pretty decent defense in short stints. He's had a ton of time to work out without the daily hammering of games so I think his health is decent. He looked ok in the few stretches he had on his comeback and that was months ago.

Worth it imo.

This would be an awesome thing if it happens. Imagine a lineup of:

PG - Derek Fisher/Jordan Farmar/Shannon Brown
SG - Kobe Bryant/Shannon Brown/Sasha Vujacic
SF - Ron Artest/Tracy McGrady/Adam Morrison
PF - Pau Gasol/Lamar Odom/Josh Powell
C - Andrew Bynum/Pau Gasol/DJ Mbenga

Our bench "problems" will be OVER!

looks like tmac is going to be a knick. i don't think that helps the prospect that he'll get waived. he can get publicity + playing time in new york, which is probably a lot better for his future contract aspirations.

Really? How so? I figured T-mac would enjoy the freedom of a simple run and jack up shots offense with little to no defense. Should give T-Mac a stat boost and make some GM sucker to signing him to a bigger deal. That is if T-Mac is capable of playing still.

D'Antoni reportedly has wild mood swings from time to time and he's prone to pushing players into the dog house very frequently. He sat Nate down when he was averaging close to 30 a game for a month. T-Mac wouldn't want to get into a situation like the one he's in with Houston. Also the run and gun offense would sap a lot of his energy especially since he's been off the court for like 2 seasons now?

He's much more suited to a slow team like Cleveland right now where he can use his smarts and instincts pretty well next to better players.

its okay. We can't always be right. :D

Ya I figured thats what would probably happen, I mean why would the Kings buy him out when they already know that he has interest in playing for LA. So what are they willing to trade to obtain him?

I'd be surprised if there aren't a number of solid free agents available in the mean time. I just don't know whether or not Buss is willing to even spend a dime more than he is this season. He's an idiot though if he calculates the risk of a veteran minimum signing to be more important than having a glaring hole at the backup wings.

The guy I'm looking at for help along with T-Mac is Mike Miller. Miller would allow you to play Shannon Brown as the backup PG when you're getting flamed there. Bobby Simmons is another capable veteran, there are plenty of solid players available.

At PG you may see Chris Duhon. It's all about the money though, it's unfortunate we didn't save a few million somehow.

kind of disappointed buss wasn't willing to take on another contract to solve the bench issues but he was willing to pay the majority of lane kiffin's buyout from Tennessee...cause we all know SC doesn't have enough rich alumni to contribute.
Thank you, Phil.
