i'm going out on a limb and saying the lakers would have still won the championship if they hadn't acquired sb.

I'm not saying we wouldn't have, but it certainly helped. He had big moments in the Denver series, who knows what happens if thats Sasha getting those minutes or RadMan

Since Bucher is always horrifically wrong, I expect Dwight Howard or Chris Paul or Kevin Durant on a plane here any minute.

I put up a topic regarding Banks before i saw it in this thread the mod can merge if he wants to. Back to the trade this doesn't really make sense to me because Banks is signed threw next season and he's only $723,113 cheaper than Sasha.

Yup, thats it. I like our team but can't help but wonder if our gamble (i.e. standing pat) will burn us this year. I'm REALLY worried about our PG position.

It's as much of a gamble to do nothing as making a move that might not work out. This isn't 2008 where we were a fringe playoff team and had an obvious void at center. We are the second best team in the league where the main problem is our pg DEFENSE. I have to make that distinction because defense is more of a group effort, and while Fisher/Farmar should take the blame it also goes to the rest of the team when the likes of Rondo/Mo/Billups start burning us. We have already seen what this team can do when they play with effort. Parker was a non-factor after the 1st quarter, and D-Will has one of the weakest triple double ever. The problem isn't so much personnel but how this team approaches the game. Kobe is not going to lead the team by example because his defense has been shot for a while, same thing with Fish. The only one that seem like he's capable of energizing the team with his defensive plays is Mbenga, and he's only the 12th man on the team. More than anything we need someone to step up and provide defensive leadership, getting a Hinrich or Charlie Bell can only do so much when the team likes to coast most of the time.

Hinrich is overpaid. We should not acquire anyone that is overpaid unless Walton not Vujachick is involved.

We're stuck with Vujachick until next offseason at worst, meanwhile we have to look at "heavy-tongue" for another 3 1/2 seasons.

like all the time 8-)

on topic: ok, who will be bought out? and who will help the lakers??

ive always maintained that the only trades lakers were going to make were cost cutting measures - ie farmar for nothing (and save 3.8 mil in payroll)

and that mid season free agency was the way to go if we want to improve our PG rotation. looking at teams that aren't in the playoff picture with aging FAs that can defend and shoot that might help the lakers:
1. raja bell (GSW)
2. steve blake (LAC) (chances are if he is bought out, he'll return to portland?)
3. eddie house (NYK) (same as above, but with boston)

I wish we went after Hinaken and got rid of PG lite

Fact AMMO + Farmar make almost as much as Hiney.
Lakers are 22-3 in OT last 6 seasons:Kobe best OT closer!
