SIGN HIM TO AN EXTENSION TONIGHT.
I would not be surprised if this is what comes out of it.

Arles wrote:Jeez. No one offered crap for Amare. I'd rather keep him with a 70% chance of extending him than going into next season with Nash/JRich/Duds/Lopez/? and a bench guy like Hickson or Budinger (plus a late round pick). That team would be unwatchable and there's no guarantee any star would be coming here once JRich came off the books.
Amare is better than any FA we could sign with the MLE of cap space we would get by trading him now. Even if we had $20 million of space, Amare is better than anyone we would likely sign (only Lebron, Bosh and Wade are better - and they aren't coming here).
If we extend Amare or he picks up his option (I'd put at atleast 70-80+%), then the team did exactly what they should have.

Maybe not enough time then. Basically told him before last night's game he wasn't going anywhere.
They meet tonight and can talk more about it. Or find a middle ground. Plenty of time now.

- No good deals came along that made us better now and in the future
- When asked about deals like CLE, stated that offers were not good enough for their All-star caliber player. (At least he had the balls to say no to crap deals)
- Acknowledged the risk of Amare opting out
- Thinks relationship with Amare is still amicable.
- Mentions how well liked Amare is in the locker room.
- Did not mention extension talks (Still hope?)
- Mentioned being a player in 2011 FA
(I still believe this is a good plan considering the pending new CBA)
- Stated goal was to make the playoffs this year and hopefully do some damage
- Another goal was to develop our younger players like Lopez, Dudley, Clark
(Funny he forgot to mention Dragic)
