They're discussing Sasha for Banks. This is an excellent move and it's not because of Banks. It lowers the Lakers payroll just enough that they can sign a player for the veteran minimum at the backup wings, such as a Bobby Simmons.

Wait, that can't be true, because according to Bucher, I should be hanging ten right now.

"Banks to lakers" is not a good title 5 minutes before the trade deadline, lol.

I'll be very pleased if this deal goes through. It's an incredibly cheap way of signing a player, but it does help Buss. We hold no favoritism with Marcus Banks. If he even does anything worth it's a bonus. This year if I'm not mistaken he saves 550k, next year he saves about 750k. That's a total of 1.1m this year and 1.5m next year. It's a coup for L.A. if they can do it.

Banks is a good, rugged defender. I look forward to the 60th pick LOL

Well the point is that if they're so willing to trade Vujajic and we clearly know that Walton is more or less done this season that leaves you wondering about the SF possibilities we've been referring to. They seem more likely by the minute. I'm really excited about the possibility of adding Mike Miller.

I don't like the savings if it's not an expiring actually. Why- Because the bigger the expiring the better and next year that actually makes Sasha more valuable than Banks would be. Buss should just pony up now and sit on the calculator for another season until he's worth someone with a little talent next year in a package deal.

The savings would have been about 2.7m total.

If Kupchak really waited until the deadline to discuss something we've been talking about for six months that's ridiculous. At least they realize that they have terrible backups at the wings right now. They tried for Prince, they tried for everything with regard to Sasha, but he's outright terrible. He should never play again.

Reading Ding's article, kind of depressing to hear that Sasha will be back and Shannon Brown opting out.

Damn good point Danny! And at least we know Sasha could be a scrappy/annoying defender to ginobili and others. I don't see exactly what Banks would bring to this club.

Sasha is not worth an expiring. I would be fine with Banks because he could actually defend, and any small saving will mean alot for a team that is deep into tax.

I could care less about the 750k difference in expiring contracts over actual savings for Buss. If we're really going to compare these two players and just how terrible they are, Banks is the superior defender.
