The Nuggets are said to be interested in Detroit center Ben Wallace.
Rip Hamilton and Tayshaun Prince are obviously on the block, but Joe Dumars is suddenly talking about keeping the roster intact since the first half of the season was an injury disaster for the Pistons. Link

Ben Wallace
If Ben Wallace is indeed on the market we need to make a run at him. After hitting the foundation of youth this year I doubt Ben plans on retiring after the seasons like he originally planned.

Re: Ben Wallace
I touched on Ben Wallace's situation a few weeks ago after Detroit barely lost to Orlando and Howard was primarily held in check (someone else brought up the trade idea). Contract match is easy (veteran minimum after he was bought out), but we'd probably have to offer a 1st rounder to get Detroit to bite unless Wallace asks to be dealt.
If we could get Wallace and maybe their 2nd for either Collins or Morris and the 1st rounder, it might be preferable to the Kurt Thomas deal because we could keep Mo Evans for perimeter help. Mind you a 1st round pick (even a low one) is quite a rental price.

I'm afraid a 1st is simply too much. Wallace is the big I want more than any other, but I just can't figure out any way Atlanta could get him.

Re: Ben Wallace
Unless you do something like
1) Ben for Morris (prospect) and ATL 2nd
OR
2) Ben + DET 2nd for Collins + ATL 1st, as of today trading down 11 spots on the draft for Ben.
OR adding other players in the mix
3) Ben + Stuckey + 2nd (and signing FA SF) for Morris + Mo + Teague + 1st
I like the latter but 2nd is probably more realistic...

Re: Ben Wallace
would you do with SAN
Dyess + Hill + Mason for Bibby + Evans + Morris + 2nd?
I like Hill's potential. Turn around and trade Collins for a late 2nd to a team desparate for bigs...

I don't see Hill being on the table nor do I see San Antonio interested in Bibby. I like idea of the 2nd coming back in the deal for Ben, but again anything involving Ben requires him wanting to go. Stuckey likely isn't available either.

Re: Ben Wallace
Wallace hasn't been productive anywhere except Detroit lately. You probably do have to overpay to get him.
I don't see why Drew Gooden couldn't be an option? We need some depth like Boston had a few years back as they could bring out a Powe or Perkins to clog the middle.
We are one big guy away from taking a shot at the ECF.

Boston is making a move for Robinson because our slow (BibbY) or tall (JJ/ JC) or unexperienced (Teague) back-court cannot stop him...
Cleveland is getting better, Boston is getting better.
Why not try a move with MEM? see other posting.
