OT: Miami Situation

Miami apparently made their picks in play to send Boozer to Phoenix and land Amare. They aren't dealing Beasley at this point.

ESPN reported that Beasley, Chalmers and Korver were discussed. Guess it's not clear who made the offer and who rejected.

by next season wade is going to be 29, and with his injury history, he'll have at best 2-3 superstars seasons left in him.......riley has just wasted the last 2 years waiting for 2010, when you have someone like wade he should have done absolutely everything to bring in a second star, even if it meant trading beasley or giving up expiring contracts......

i think that's why they didn't trade beasley. they figure they have cap room to sign someone outright in the summer so why sacrifice a young up and coming player, especially if you're not 100% sure on wade's health.

maybe it got lost on most people but the Clippers now have enough to go after a max-player. I know their record is terrible but they have some enticing pieces that could attract a star like Wade, plus its up there with NY (and ahead of Chi) for biggest bball markets. Could you imagine:

Kaman
Griffen
Butler
Wade
Davis

Maybe they get Aminu or Wesley Johnson in the draft to replace Butler and thats not a bad situation to be in. Heck, they could do what the bulls did and end up with Wall. Plus you get the rivalry with Kobe and the Lakers. But I guess alot has to do with how Griffen and their first rounder for this year pan out. Still, thats better than what the NY has to offer.

@tim_hardawayy this season doesn't matter to the teams with cap space in 2010 AND the teams with nothing to lose in 2010 (CHI,NYK) these teams have nothing to lose this summer so the way this season play will have little impact... but to keep a superstar like wade satisfied this season means a lot

I agree, Wade has carried the Heat and Riley has not only wasted prime time Wade but has contributed to Wade's wear and tear. The same could be said about Bosh until this year. Which is why I don't mind the JO trade so much. It was a mistake in the first place but BC realized that and was able to rectify it by adding JJ, Amir, and an over-paid Turk. Whereas Miami said 'waste another year of your career Wade'. So I wouldn't blame him for leaving. Wade is close to LBJ. But look what Cleavland has done for Lebron compared to what Miami has. Then again Wade has a ring and the Heat may add some quality this summer.

Just a couple of things...

Wade has never demanded help "right now". He's always made it clear he knows what Riley's plan is, and that he will stay if they get help, but he's never demanded the team make a trade or anything. If he did, I am sure Miami would have used Beasley to get a Boozer or Amare at the deadline.

Also, the 2010 plan can't be deemed a failure right now, because this was always what was expected. It is strategy, Riley trying to think 3 moves ahead of everyone else. Sacrificing the pawns in order to take the bishop.

That said, no doubt, it could all end in colossal failure. Wade to Chicago is a very real possibility, and I see the Clippers as a dark horse as well. I think everyone is overreacting and overrating the here and now though on what these players decisions will be.

The Raptors board went from planning on how to deal Bosh by the deadline in November, to getting ready for him to retire in Toronto now. But at the end of the day, whatever happens this season will have relatively little impact on any of these players' decisions on their future.

Coming from a guy that cries wolf everytime a raps fan posts on the Miami board you'd think one would stay off our board?

I won't claim that Miami is in a great situation, and it sucks that they have basically forced their fans to accept they won't try to compete for a couple of seasons, but Riley is going for it all. He did the same thing with the Shaq trade a few years back, and if you ask any Heat fan, they will take that ring as opposed to keeping our youth like Butler and Odom 10 times out of 10.

I do agree with this point 100% and it is something as a fan I find hard to do. As much as I would like to see Amir, Derozan, etc. grow into the players I hope they become on this team, at the end of the day its all potential. If we can acquire a solid player who puts us in legitamit contention the move has to be done even if it means 2 or 3 of our young players.

The Clippers have horrible managment, a crap fanbase, a legacy of loosing. I have a hard time seeing anyone go to the Clips. Right now they're a bad team, and just got worse loosing Camby. They would also have to give up a good amount of talent, which wouldn't really leave them with much for Wade to go to imo.

Kaman's nice, but nothing special. An uknown in a rooke. After that, Baron kinda sucks, Butler kinda sucks as a starter, and their bench kinda sucks.
