Kerr/Sarver is talking extension right now with Amare. No way I see Heat or anyone getting Amare over the summer. They had their chance and blew it.

We had our chance and blew it. Plz don't give Amare an extension. That means the team will stay together and be 1 and done for the next 5 years.

Well, that's up to Nash and the management for putting together the right pieces. Barring injury, which big man is better than Amare? Or you don't think it's good idea to have a dominant allstar starter calibre of big man on your team? You want to be the Clippers?

The Heat wanted Amare but we didn't want Beasley so Miami tried to trade their picks + expiring to Utah in order for Boozer to come here.

Wonder if they could still do a sign and trade on draft night...

Aw...That means they likely have to take a player who another team selects. Well that could be a good thing actually...

So I hear Miami was trying to get a 3 way with Utah and PHX. Miami gets Amare and PHX gets Boozer?

I wonder who said no.

I bet the trade looked something like this.

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachi ... Id=yffypzq

Miami Gets
AK 47 and Amare for Beasily, Q. Rich, and J. O'Neil.
That should of made Wade Happy.

Utah gets
The expiring deals of J.O and Q. Rich. From what I hear AK47 was an unmovable contract they wanted to get rid of. This also gives them a test run of J. O'neil in case they dont bring back Okur

Dont see why they would reject this.

PHX Gets
Boozer and Beasily.
They get Boozer to finish their potential run this season and if they are really looking to cut salary then they can let Boozer walk unlike Amare who could of opted back in and they got Mike Beasily on his Rookie deal.

Why wouldn't PHX do this.

Can anyone tell me which team said no to this?

I like Amare. But he wants 70+ mil over the next 5 years. Would rather save the $ then blow it up and rebuild with young talent and draft picks... Kinda like the Sonics and Blazers did a few years back.

We'll probably never know how the UTA-MIA-PHX deal was structured. Just gonna guess that:

-UTA was only offered expirings plus picks (TOR1st or MIA1st) for Boozer. They probably said no.

-Sounds like MIA didn't offer Beasley. No mention of MIA taking AK47's contract. Doubt they would do that.

-We weren't that high on Beasley anyway. Not sure if we wanted to trade for Boozer since he has a greater chance of bolting this summer than Amare.

First, blowing up would more likely make us the Clippers, Grizzley, Wolves, Bulls. Aside from Thunders, it takes normally 10+ years in sucky being before you ever get relevant again.

Second, you will be paying at least 70 mil for 5 for any reasonable bigman. Boozer, Brand, West. David Lee might even command that money. I believe you rate them all over Amare talent-wise, right?

I am still a member of the Suns -- I am with a great team and coaches … It was nice to have other teams and players want me to join their teams, but I am happy to stay in Phoenix. I appreciated all the Suns fans across the country who reached out to me and showed the love and support. --Amare

Apparently Amare takes no offense to what other teams thought he was worth.

IF anything, that will make Amare prove himself yet again.

Amare is offensively superior to all those guys. Defensively Amare could be more talented but he doesn't care about that stuff. He's always lost on D, never averaged 10 boards per in one season. I'm not making excuses for him but this team has never coached or taught anyone to play D. I'd love to see him go to Miami or Cleveland where he could get the money he thinks he's worth and be taught to play D.

Amare is a better player than a guy like Lee but Lee has the same numbers at less than half the price playing without Steve Nash.

Kerr and Stoudemire's camp, which includes agent Walters, exchanged ideas on a new contract for Stoudemire earlier this season, and Kerr said he hoped to continue that process.

Walters said he is always open to listening.

"I don't know that we're going to reach an agreement. I've been quoted as saying we're close, but I never said that," Walters said. "Amare is an important part of their future -- it is up to the Suns to say how much.

"We've exchanged ideas. The ball is in their court. It's going to be what he feels the team is going to do in the future. Are they going to build the team, or stay where they are?"

I think Kerr and Sarvar screw up big time by not trading Amare. They have no choice but to extend Amare now, regardless of any financial consequence. Personally, I wouldn't mind cuz it's Sarvar's money.

Deal w/ Houston was Scola, Battier and Cook's expiring.

It would've made us better this season IMO, but it's not really a move you make to rebuild.

Edit: "and multiple drat picks"

That would have been a good deal I think.

we've already had some "drat" picks ...

+1
From all the post-deadline reports, it looks like Amare's got all the leverage now.
