Pettigrew has been back in Allen Park working with the training staff for rehab and treatment. Head Coach Jim Schwartz has said he doesn’t like to put time constraints on a player’s recovery, but Pettigrew is planning to do what he can throughout the offseason without risking his physical well-being.
“I will just be getting with other players – veterans – and working on things,” he said. “There’s a lot to be done for us as a team. We’re not in the same situation as other teams – I think we still have to find our chemistry.”
As the 2009 season progressed, Pettigrew became a regular outlet of Stafford’s. Over Pettigrew’s final three full games, Stafford found the tight end 15 times for 165 yards including two touchdowns. In fact, Pettigrew’s last touchdown was the one that gave Detroit a final-play victory over the Cleveland Browns.
“He’s the best quarterback I’ve ever had or been around,” said Pettigrew. “He’s got a strong arm and when he has time to throw it, it’s on point. When we both get healthy, we’ll be working out and trying to get back on the same page and find that groove. Once we get more comfortable here I think we’ll be fine."
Rehabs going great. He's already working to improve from last season. He loves Matty and wants to join Matt and Calvin in their offseason plans to work out some kinks.
Notice what he said? "when he has time to throw it, it's on point." We really need to upgrade the O-line and get rid of Backus who gave up 8 sacks in Staffords 10 games.
I'm looking forward to see our young trio out there on offense.
