Miles is by far the most talented of the bunch. Miles can hit the jumper off the curl unlike matthews. It seems the only way matthews scores is if he's takin the corner 3 or throwing up some circus shot. Korver would struggle on D and perhaps is best off the bench. I think Sloan will continue to give playing time to whoever he feels earns it. Hell the CJ hate is ridiculous though. The jazz clearly like what they have in miles or else they wouldnt have matched the offer and they would've traded him today or perhaps before. Consistency is the key for CJ it wasnt too long ago that Miles was playing really well then we made a trade for some guy named kyle. IF CJ can get some consistent minutes and get in the groove he can be the scoring wing everyone says we need.

Couldn't agree more with CAE15. Hoping it's CJ, but I have a feeling its Korvers turn. CJ > Wes > Korver

That chart comparison was awesome, thanks for that. I think with our current starting line up Korver just fits better. We need some outside shooting to keep guys off boozer. For our second unit, Mathew or CJ would be fine.

My money's on Korver as well. I also like the combo of Matthews (SG) and Miles (SF) at the back up wing positions. I envision Kyle becoming an assassin from the perimeter that will stop teams from playing zone defense against the Jazz. His presence alone should open up things in the post for Boozer and Millsap. My depth chart:
PG: Deron Williams, Ronnie Price, Sundiata Gaines
SG: Kyle Korver, Wesley Matthews
SF: Andrei Kirilenko, C.J. Miles
PF: Carlos Boozer, Paul Millsap, Kosta Koufos
C: Mehmet Okur, Veteran (Maybe Big Z), Kyrylo Fesenko

CJ may have the most talent out of the three, but give me guts and hustle and Basketball IQ over CJ's "talent" anyday. The other two guys know when to shoot, and when to work the system. Despite being given countless chances, CJ still doesn't have a clue and his lack of maturity on the floor is what I think hinders him most from being a consistent contributing starter to this team.

As far as I'm concerned, I'm willing to give him another chance as Jazz don't really have a choice, but if he can't pull it together with the amount of PT he's going to get, he needs to go.

I agree with this, CJ was drafted years ago based on talent and potential, years later he still hasn't really put it together. He still has that same talent and potential but like seejaydeja said its all about lack of maturity. He doesn't play like a NBA player, he plays like he's still the star of some high school team.

It's a matter of practice. He probably practices more from the left side. Or he "can't turn right" a la Zoolander.

Ok, undrafted rookie. Time to make good.

This is really a pretty good story, especially if he can carry his share of the load. Might be one of the better stories in the league.

Got my fingers crossed. He'll probably split time with Korver though. So, I think 24 mpg is what he'll see. It'll be hard to put up 15ppg in 24 minutes. But 10 ppg should be in reach.

What's everyone's gut feeling on whether Matthews re-signs with the Jazz out of loyalty to the team that "took a chance on him" (to paraphrase some palindromic swedes).

I can't think of many other places that Matthews is going to be able to start and play for such a competent team with the track record that the Jazz have. I think he stays.

It's gonna be hard for him to find a spot he fits so well. He's a system guy. Probably half the teams in the league wouldn't be interested and 90% of them have someone they like better starting @ sg.

I don't see him leaving a starting gig. My guess is that he'll take a shortish deal with not too much cash. Maybe 8 mil for 3 years, player option on the 3rd. Something like that, that gives him the opportunity to get a bigger payday in 2 years if he earns it. I certainly don't see him getting anything close to MLE type money. I think we'd just let him walk.

from the tribs twitter

I asked Wes Matthews about the notion that the Jazz wouldn't have traded Brewer if they weren't interested in him long-term.

Matthews' answer: "If that’s the case, I definitely appreciate it and I’m just going to continue to be me and work."

Kind of a sketchy response IMO...

Not sketchy, just PC. He may be smarter about talking to reporters than some PFs I know.

Hope he stays.. Disaster if we have to rely on CJ.

He's a good player.. good potential, Sloan likes him..plays defense..I was watching a few replays on youtube and his 3 point shooting is coming around. And Happyprole posted that shooting chart, CJ has missed THAT MANY 3's? 15-45????? Good grief...
