No but it is more likely you find a trade partner dumping Jeffries with him straight up instead of using two picks on top.
I'm not certain because :
1) Jennings ain't really that great
2) Houston truly wanted to make us pay big time for that second max player slot, they negotiated a trade with Sacramento, found a taker for T-Mac and a team willing to give them value for T-Mac's expiring, they no longer needed us to get value for T-Mac
If we drafted Jennings then Houston would have asked for Jennings and two first round picks or they would have made the trade direcly with Sacramento. I think it would have been the same.
The solution may have been to package the lottery pick last june with Jared Jeffries for an expiring contract. That said, if Donnie found a taker and made such a trade then most would have said he overpaid and pulled the trigger too soon and he would have had enough time during the season to dump Jeffries at a lesser cost than a lottery pick.
