Yeah, I wouldn't be upset being really bad next year when the suns actually have their own pick. Really was no reason to trade Amare this year and suck when the Suns won't even get the benefit of sucking and the rumored deals had basically 2nd round pick talent(not really that crucial to the rebuilding process).

I'd like them to take a stick of dynomite to the team nest year though. Keep Nash if he wants to stay or trade him to a team he'd like to go to. JRich's expiring deal should be able to catch a decent return and if healthy Barbosa will have value towards the deadline for a team making a push and needing some offense.

Suns will also be able to facilitate trades with either their cap space and/or TE they get from an Amare S&T much like the Thunder have been doing.

I don't think any team will be interested in Amare's bird rights because no team will be interested in locking him up more than 3 or 4 years.

You're right but teams will be looking to get as much operating room in FA as possible. If the Suns are willing to take back salary they could S&T Amare giving whatever team he goes to extra room to make more FA plays. Of course they would need to make it worth the Suns while to do this.

I'm thinking now a S&T is more likely because Amare says security is his #1 demand and "security" means a long term contract well into the next CBA. On the other hand I don't see any team wanting to do that. He probably can find a team that will overpay him but will balk at giving him security.

I doubt a team can even insure him with his medical history?

Reportedly, all signs pointing towards Sarvar not willing to go more than 2 yrs on extension (Amare asks for 4), and might rather let him walk (or do a draft day S&T). I'm holding out my opinion until they have this extension thing settles. But what Sarvar and Kerr just did, by not trading Amare, could easily set back this franchise for yrs to come.

Because we didn't get JJ Hickson or Beasley?

Return to Phoenix Suns
