The consensus in my mind would be if we can't land Wall, land Turner. Basically if we don't get the no. 1 pick at least get the no. 2. pick. But then again, Rubio was slated to go no. 1 and he fell all the way to no. 5 so a lot can happen.

The measuring stick for Bird's drafting since 2008: Battle tested college players with high basketball IQ and room to grow. How's he drafted? Started with Rush and Hibbert in 2008, Hansborough in 2009. 2010 = ???

Nazr Mohammed expires the same time as Ford and Murphy...going into the summer of 2011. He has either a player option, or an early termination option for next season, and then expires.

Make no mistake, a Ford/Rush for Augustin/Henderson/Mohammed deal would've been HUGE for the Pacers. We likely would have had to include a 1st rounder though (at least, if I were the Bobcats, I would have demanded that).

Giving them a #1 is probably what killed the deal. When you're in our situation giving away picks can turn into a disastrer. Remember the Tom Owens trade from 1981-82 that little #1 from 1984, that could have been Jordan.

A little before my time (so I don't remember it personally) but I'm very aware of what giving away picks can do to a franchise.

I just know that if I were the Bobcats, there's no way I would've considered that deal in anyway as it was constructed.

If we could have gotten DJ, Henderson and Nazr for TJ and Rush we would have been robbing them, I can see where they'd want a #1 but I'm not willing to risk it, well just try to deal TJ and other next season.

Well it's certainly interesting. Basically Rush for Augustin. I'm not sure that I regret missing out on that. Fact is, Augustin has regressed mightily this year (I know Rush isn't exactly lighting the world on fire, but...) and Henderson has shown absolutely nothing. He's one of the few high picks from this draft who has shown NOTHING. if that draft were done over today, I think he'd be like the 30th pick.

So certainly it could have turned out well for the Pacers. It also could have ended up being a total loss of a solid young guy in Rush, for 2 guys who never develop into anything more than garbage timers.

Think Rush is going to react starting tonight! He's got 29 games to prove he belongs opposite Granger on the wing. He finishes this season stronger then he finished last season...BANG!

Rush would put up a lot better numbers if O'B would just run some plays for him.

I was watching a Butler game a few weeks ago and the announcers said Brad Stevens gives O'B a lot of credit for helping him draw up plays. why he doesn't use these plays himself is beyond me.

Put me in the camp that is glad we didn't do the trade. Larry Brown's generally a pretty good evaluator of talent, and when you fall out of favor with him, something's up. Augustin might be better than anything we have at PG, but that's not really saying much. Rush has the highest ceiling out of all the players involved, and that's why I wouldn't make the deal. That, and Augustin doesn't look like a starter on a contending basketball team, and Henderson hasn't gotten any playing time.

T.J. Ford reportedly started dancing in front of his teammates when he thought he was traded to the Bobcats.
Ford's excitement was understandable. He's probably a better player than Earl Watson or A.J. Price, but landed in coach Jim O'Brien's doghouse and has only recently gotten out a little bit. However, the trade died on the table and Ford remains a Pacer.
