Re: Apology and contract extension for Amare
I don't agree that everyone wants him gone. People just don't want to pay him max money to keep him. Most of us have said we'd be more than happy to keep Amare if he'd sign for less than the max and give us some financial flexibility.

Has Amare been ever given the chance? All the years, we only have proof that Nash can't be the best player on a contending team. Even in his current form, Amare teamed with one other star will make a big contender, which you can't say of Nash. Well, TD in his prime might team up with Nash for a championship, or maybe now Amare becoming the best player on the Suns would do it too.

Pair him with someone who brings that and you've got a scary forntline - if Rolo were a bit better rebounder ... actually, Rolo/Lou/Stat or with EC in there is pretty good.
I really think we have some nice talent - if we had the right shooting guard, we'd be a touch matchup.
A healthy Nash not dominating the ball too much, as in the current 10 game stretch. Sign Tmac for MLE in the summer. Have Amare healthy and motivated. You have a contender in the Suns right there.

Nobody *wants* him gone. He's a great player and a great team mate. But if we can't work out a reasonable extension with him then we have no choice but to move him for some useful assets. We don't want to be in the same situation the Sixers are in with Brand. The risk of injury are going to be there as well which is why we are hesitant to give him a max year deal.

amare and rolo can be a dangerous combination for the future but i dont see amare staying. after next year we will be able to see what kind of future is in store for the phoenix suns.
if amare leaves i dont think we'll be in playoffs next year but we still may be close. dont discount jrich stepping up and earl clark become more involved. no one gave the rockets a chance this year but theyve stuck around with average players.

Finally someone that I totally agree with
After all those that happened, how the Suns management mistreated him this year, he is still open to re-signing with the team, and is willing to take a few dollars less, I'm gonna say get him re-signed already
His offense alone is worth 16-18 mil a year
Respect to Amar'e and I will understand if he leaves for a contender
Phoenix Suns
San Francisco 49ers
UCLA Bruins

and this comparison to Brand is convenient but unwarranted. Brand is 3 1/2 yrs older. There is a big difference between a 31 yr old (Amare's age when his contract request expires) and 34 yr old in the NBA. Just ask Ray Allen.
What ? Me Worry ?

It wasn't a player comparison, it was a comparison of their contracts and it's effect on the respective teams. Giving Amare a contract that could leave us with little room to make basketball moves would put us in the same situation the Sixers are in now.

not wanting to give him max money doesn't necessary mean any dislike for his game or disrepect for all the adversity he's overcome

Suns need to keep him and continue to try build a new team around him like Boston did with Pierce.
Eventually everything can go fast. Amare is back to being ALL-NBA First team Amare for the last 10 games now.
He deserves the contract, I expect the Suns to give in and give him the 4 year extension that he wants.
The inconsistent first half of the season to me is simply a product of that eye surgery, the goggles, the team being to jumpshot happy with far too little touches for Amare evidenced by his monthly FGA per game and maybe the insecurity of his name being in trade rumors.
He will up his game like always for the 2nd half of the season and dominate in the playoffs like usual.
