"Squeeze play" with Reggie. Sad that he had to explain the joke.

Olympics Weather sucks
CB4 is gonna be fine, one of those things that could get worse and some sensitivitiy just keeping an eye on it. Not sure how he is responding to treatment but will see today how he is. Nice to have a lul in the schedule to push to get on the court.
Started off bad 7-13 was not a true showing of our team, we were 5-5 in PHX and we lost at the end. POssession for possession we were up with the a top team, took a step back after that game. Untill washington then cleared the air. COaches there for them and on them (dirty?) Jay has done a great job this year, except for the two broken clipboards
Feels similar to 06-07 and the guys are responding. Sonny and Amir are contributing more than they thought. Doesnt want to jinx it, thought Saturday night basketball was weird, but it was sold out so it was great.
Bargs, why is he flourishing? Not a knock on sam but Jay is really helping him, he isnt so anxious and easier for him to get comfortable and seeing him applying it to a game is a different story, more confidence. They said he wouldnt be rookie of the year, and that he is a good fit for the team. Capable of scoring 20 a night, more physical nice little inside game. Not ever going to be a great rebounder because of the way they play. You cant knock him because he doesnt get boards, because he is not asked to be under the rim because of Chris. His block are usually flat footed, and he is starting to get it all together and he is still very young.
Reggie Evans- Waiting for the squeeze play before he is actually back (makes Kaman reference) getting his timing not really explosive yet. It is great to have a guy like Reggie to come in and cvhange up the game. Having him and Amir to be able to turn to is great. Marco may not play.
The guys asked about the Kaman incident, BC wants to see how its written in the rule book. Everything he represents on and off the court is great.
Not about the stat sheet, its about Practice and things you dont see.
Dont think I missed anything.

"Marco may not play with Reggie back"
I think belli is a pretty good all around player off the bench, sure he is streaky but in the long run I think a player like Belli would play a larger role in playoff success than a guy like Weems.

Belli has the possibility of getting hot and completely stealing a game, but I don't see him performing consistently enough to impact a whole series.
Weems is far more consistent. He may not be a gamebreaker, but he's steady.

Thanks for the breakdown SkinnyP. Can you elaborate on the flat-footed nature of Bargs' blocks? Is that a good thing, or does BC want Bargs jumping off the floor?

I feel bad for Marco, I really liked him on this team and thought he would have a great opportunity... being Italian and all.

I agree, in the playoffs I'd rather have the guy that can score tough baskets and get to the line. Weems is playing well right now, but he's mostly a jump-shooter.

Imo it's a good thing because he usually manages to not only keep the ball in play but also retains possession. He may also be less likely to bite on a pump fake as he's not jumping all over the place, but that's just my 0.02.

You know who else blocks shots like that? Tim Duncan. If you're going to model post defence after anyone, that's the guy you want to copy.

Yes its a good thing, it allows the player to be able to either jump quickly and go after it, or just be in a better position to continue to either play D or get back on O.
And like Scotty said, TD is the master of it. Just think if you were able to block someone without having to jump.

Dang I really like Belli. He shoots 3s, has an ok D and he consistenltly gets to the foul line. I miss him.

Yeah, you did. A key point. BC mentioned that during that Suns game, Hedo was engaged, which "he hasn't always been this year". While uttering those words, his voice was dripping with, I dunno, sarcasm? Disappointment? Barely disguised rage?
Of course, the hockey pucks didn't pick up on it, changing the topic to Bargs. But I wonder what BC would have said if he had been pressed on Hedo.

Which would lend credence to Bargnani's admission that he's spent a lot of time watching film of Duncan's movement in the paint; blocking shots and keeping them in play was an impressive facet of his block party on Saturday: fans may get giddy about Howard swatting shots into the third row, but Bill Russell was famed for keeping the ball in play, sending it ahead, leading to another Celtic score.

it's definitely a good thing Bargs is blocking shots flat footed. It means he doesn't need to exert a lot of effort when blocking shots and after the initial shot contest/block, he'll rarely find himself out of position and can easily recover to contest/block a second or third time and also prevents him from biting on pump fakes and if he does bite he'll still be in a position to recover

Re: Colangelo on the FAN590 at 8:10a.m.
Another way of saying he is blocking shots flat footed is that he blocks them by moving vertically and not flying in horizontally like a lot of guys do, which results in the ball moving horizontally, often out of bounds. Bargs stays upright, goes up, stops the ball's momentum and comes down with it in his hands. Beautiful.
