Packers 2010 Throwback Jersey news from UniWatch

UniWatchBlog.com wrote:NFL News: A little birdie who’s in a position to know sent me some NFL tips the other day. I can’t confirm any of it, but I feel the info is solid enough to pass along, with the proviso that it’s all subject to change:

I got a memo mentioning new third jerseys for the Packers and Colts. The memo also mentioned “updated” third jerseys for the Cardinals, Eagles, Patriots, and one other team (I think it was the Bears, but I’m not positive).

Based on something I saw earlier, I’m almost certain the Packers will be wearing 1929 throwbacks. Those are dark blue jerseys with a dark blue numeral inside a gold circle over khaki pants and dark blue socks. Of course, per today’s uniform standards, the circle and numeral on the front would be much larger, and I believe the style guide showed a solid brown helmet with gray mask to simulate the leather ones some players wore in 1929. It’s gone from the server now, however — I guess I’m lucky I saw it.

Some teams (Chargers) have great throwback jerseys. We don't.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I actually kind of liked the throwbacks that we wore for the NFL's 75th anniversary season--both the blue and white versions (I also thought the Bears were kind of cool).

My fear with these new throwbacks is that the number is going to be so big within the circle that it will look almost nothing like the jersey does in the picture. Also, I wondered if this was the third jersey referred to in the article or if there would be a third jersey in addition to the two we have now (with the throwback being something completely separate). Yellow looks horrible and hopefully the black phase is over, so I can't imagine what that third would be...

Ultimately, I like when teams have throwbacks and am glad the Packers are getting involved again. I think it portrays the history of the team as well as giving fans a different option in regard to purchasing a jersey.

I like the idea of a throwback jersey, I'd even do it for half the games like the Redskins did a few years back when they wore the helmet with the arrow on it for 8 games that year. I'm in the vast minority, but I'd love to see the Packers revamp their current uniform, it's been almost the same since I started watching them 30 years ago. Even something subtle as not wearing mustard yellow pants for road games would be nice.

I think the closest we'll get to a different look at the Packers are these throwbacks... did a quick search and these are the jerseys they wore vs. Detroit on Thanksgiving...
