bulls get boozer and a hinrich replacement for cheap with potential without picking up significant salary this year.
portland gets their starting point giving up only bayless.
utah gets rid of boozer while saving a ton of cash and getting a very good young prospect with upside for a tryout year at least.

No doubt in my mind this is the best trade Utah can get at this moment. Out of all names around Tyrus Thomas is the best fit for the Jazz, and the money relief is good (about 7.5M methinks?).
Chicago and Portland get much better too.

Well, if Portland get Andre Miller they're certainly not going for Hinrich...

This seems like such a long time ago. Just in case some of you guys can't remember the intense hatred for boozer, lets take a walk down memory lane.

If the Jazz don't resign Boozer they have to involve him in a sign and trade to attempt to get back value close to his. That type of talent is very hard to come buy and it's essential the Jazz find some way to get it back whether he leaves or not.

Teams interested in Boozer will have cap space and they will feel no need to trade their own talent away. There is very slim chance for sign-and-trade.
I should be on Lacob payroll...

i remember back in the summer listening to 1320, and hearing Locke going off on booz after the fiasco, and baggs saying something like "the jazz will keep him, and once they are winning games, everyone will forget about this" i thought he was insane at the time, but i'll eat my share of crow. it's hard to find another big in the league playing as good as him right now.

Yeah, with all the cap clearing going on, its hard to see the Jazz getting any value in return for him. What needs to be done is to trade Millsap for a high quality wing, re-sign Carlos and draft Cole Aldrich. That could transform this team over night.

Even then, though, the price for Boozer is going to be steep. The dude has regained his value and will probably get a deal starting at a minimum of 12m. He's an awesome player, he really is.

While Millsap has been great when called upon, at $6M, it's very reasonable for the next 3 years as our PF backup. We need to resign Boozer, maybe 3 years MAX? I don't know, it's a lot, but man if no one throws big money at him, maybe we can give him a short term MAX deal. Or near MAX, don't know. Either way, when he's healthy, I'd take him over Bosh, cause this guy is a proven winner when he's on the court.

Yes... it would transform this team. :nonono: Aldrich's celing is Jeff Foster. I want more out of a top 10 pick.

Seconded. If Jazz take another white big this draft, I will throw myself through a brick wall.

And I'm not trying to say he sucks because he's white. He sucks because he's big and stiff. He might not even suck in the end, but he's not a star. In the top ten you get stars. And why trade Millsap for a wing when there are wings better than Aldrich in the draft?

I like Aldrich a lot. I'd prefer Turner, Wall, Favors, or Monroe, but if they can't get any of those guys, he should be the person they pick. Fits a need, fits the system, and will contribute right away. His jump shot is really ugly though.

Look at a guy like Al Horford. He is not much of a scorer, but he rebounds, defends and takes advantage of easy scoring opportunities.

If we could get Horford out of this pick, I'd take it in a second.

We don't have to have a star. Defensive bigs are hard to find, if Aldrich turns into a top 5 defensive center and excellent rebounder out of the pick, I'll take that without blinking. I think there's an 85% chance that Aldrich becomes that.
