The Trades you Don't Make ...

Post#1 » by drivewayball » Tue Feb 23, 2010 7:45 pm

Andray Blatche is en fuego for the Wizards since the Haywood, Jamison, Butler dismissal. The Wiz are even winning. Over the last three games, the 6-11 Blatche is averaging something like 25 and 10 with a bunch of blocks and steals as well.

I mention this because I read that the Wizards had offered a package including Blatche and Mike James to the Jazz for Boozer before the deadline. Like Boozer, James is an expiring. Blatche has a few more years left at less than CJMiles money. The Jazz were said to have quickly dismissed the offer, just as most of you readers probably would, but I thought, heck, how is that not a sweet deal for the Jazz? The Jazz would save about $2.5 million (and would now be well under the luxury tax) and picked up a promising big guy on the cheap. Just something to keep in mind as we watch what Blatche does or doesn't do.

I definitely feel that..i think youre right in thinking how much potential blatche may have.. but the brew brew trade already put us under the luxury tax..also, im not sure how others feel but im really liking not only the way boozer has been playing, but the role he is playing as well. It seems like he wants to be there and wants to be a leader on this team, not to mention he can hang with even a lot of the centers in the league because of his 260 somethin lb body. what do you think?

And Boozer is averaging 51.9% 16 boards, 5.3 assists, and 21.3 points since the trade deadline. Oh and Boozer is on a good team. Carlos Arroyo was a good point guard too when he was on a bad team.

The real question is why even bring this up? The trade deadline has passed. No point in what ifs.

no point in what ifs? This board has been full of trade proposals for weeks and weeks. Talk about what ifs. In this case, the Jazz dismissed an offer that may have been a great opportunity for the team. Unlike some fans, I guess, I see zero possiblity of Boozer remaining with the team after this season because I can come up with zero financial scenarios to make that happen. And no, the Jazz did not get under the luxury tax limit.

No, not under the tax.

I think the rational behind not trading Boozer is based on the hope to resign him in the offseason. You see how valuable he is right now, and if the Jazz get a first round pick anywhere from 1-7 that could either be the low post defensive presence we have been waiting for or the dynamic wing scoring we haven't ever had, the Jazz could be in championship contention with Boozer on the team.
