Larry Hughes for pennies?

Post#1 » by ALL HAIL » Tue Feb 23, 2010 11:35 pm

He's free.

Can he transform his game like Ron Harper did?

Hughes, Kobe, and Artest is a gangsta--ss wing. Hughes might be an ignorant (capital I) dude though? I don't know.

He's definitely been called selfish more than a few times.

Can he humble his game to win rings?

I'd definitely call and talk to the dude to see where his head is. If he is willing to play minutes but not shoot often he could be a piece of the long-term answer.

Why not? The league will pick up much of the salary anyway, not sure how much of that is taxed.

Couldnt hurt to see if Phil can turn another SG into a triangle point. He plays solid D too.

I agree ... plus he can actually run some point on any team much less the tri which requires a little less ball handling.

If Hughes is willing to sign for a reduced role give that man a pen ... but he's a bit a of a jackass ... and unlike other vets in his position, he probably doesn't care about rings. He probably wants to go somewhere where he can get minutes and score so he can sign the biggest deal he can get.

But if he wants to play defense and win then he would make us formidable on defense with the ability to switch on pick and rolls. WHEW!

he's not a jackass imo. He was pretty responsible when he was in Washington, Cleveland and Chicago. Just had ran into too many hurdles in personal life and been in too many tight situations pretty frequently, otherwise he's got a decent head on his shoulders to contribute to a contending team.

We need him now. I would prefer him with a broken wrist over Fisher in perfect health.

No, seriously I really love the idea of giving him a shot. He can be this year's Shannon Brown.

Naw man! I've been on him for years along with Bonzi Wells as the protypical Ron Harper ex SG role.

He doesn't get into trouble off the court, he gets in trouble on it. He is a straight idiot when it comes to shot selection. He still fancies himself going off for 50 on any given night.

I'm all for it, but I'm not going to delude myself into thinking that he is ALREADY Ron Harper circa 95-96. He's not ... yet.

Plus his shot is Puke Walton-esque. Just waaaaay streakier.

come on fell'as. why do we want everyone that becomes available? he is cool but i doubt he solves anything for us.
Only on realgm is 27,000 points, 5 rings, 1 rs mvp and 2 finals mvp considered overrated!

Larry Hughes for the veteran's minimum for just this season sounds like a low risk, high reward type of signing.

I still expect the move to come at the SF position rather than PG. We still need another player there.

A defensive minded backup solves some issues.

Kobe can pick up the SF minutes if there is a capable backup for SG not named Sasha.
