I have to say that I think the Wizards did the right thing at the trade deadline. They were paying a very high payroll and it didn't return any dividends at all with their big three of Arenas, Jamison, and Butler. They were able to attach Stevenson's contract as well and now they have the beginnings of a rejuvenated roster.

I've always felt that Blatche and McGee just needed a chance to step out of the shadows of Jamison and Haywood(who I think is a terrific center by the way). They have another young guy in Nick Young. And now they also have young Al Thornton.Say what you want about Arenas but the guy can flat out score, although I realize he's way overpaid.

So for next season they have five guys under contract to build around and most likely a lotto draft pick. Plus they should have at least $20mil in cap space to play with in a great free agency summer. If they can find a great pointguard with that money or draft pick they then have a nice starting five plus one off the bench. Fill in the holes by way of free agency and I like it.

They went from being a bit of a dinosaur team with a bloated payroll to a fresh start franchise. I think with the right GM they have the makings of something good for the future. I'm looking forward to seeing what Blatche can do against Randolph. And McGee against Gasol. It will be a real test for their young big men in important roles for a change.

With that being said I hope the Grizzlies kick their butts.

Haddadi with 8+8 in 15 MIN, one missed FG!

Great win. It seems Haddadi's play off the bench is being to make the Thabeet pick look even more foolish - as if Gasol's improved play hadn't already.

come on - Haddadi is a true center with NBA talent already shown last season. He can play with the number one player in the world Dwight Howard and hold his own. And already a year experience ahead of Thabeet. Did you ever for a moment think Thabeet could play in the same gym as Haddadi?

I didn't see the game(hey, living in Vancouver and with the Canada/Russia olympic hockey game on I had no choice) but it looks like it was a good team effort with a balance from at least five players. The rebounds were spread out I see, which means everyone is working hard on the boards.

I know Mayo was the goat against the Lakers with his missed free throws, but since the rumors of him being available at the trade deadline the guy is putting up terrific stats in multiple categories. Gotta love that drive and determination. Give me a player that contributes in assists, rebounds, and steals but perhaps puts up slightly less points over a pure scorer anytime. The Grizzlies have that already in Gay, and with Conley being average at best, having Mayo working the backcourt in different ways is what they need.

That all makes sense, but I'm surprised at how quickly Haddadi began producing when given more than a minute here or there. It makes you wonder if the coaches saw it in practice all season long, but kept playing Thabeet over him due to Thabeet being the number 2 pick.

We never really had much to go on with Haddadi but I remember how well he played during the world championships. Remember last year when he commented that he should be playing more? I hope he continues to get 12-14 minutes just so we can actually see how the guy can do. He's been so far under the radar since being signed last year that it was easy to forget about him.
