Mock Draft Competition-Wolves Board

Post#1 » by dunkonu21 » Wed Feb 24, 2010 11:15 pm

I was just thinking, I bet Wolves fans have more knowledge about the Draft than most people since we have 3 spread out picks. Well as long as people have been looking at guys they like and not ignoring PF and PG then we should be gravy.

Maybe Rev and Klomp can judge? Or we could bring in a guest judge- Cammo101

Well here's mine (I used the records from 02-23):

NJN-John Wall
MIN-Evan Turner (I would take him #1 overall for the pups, nuff said)
GSW-Derrick Favors
SAC-DeMarcus Cousins
IND-Wes Johnson
UTH(NYK)-Hassan Whiteside
WAS-Donatas Montiejunas
DET-Greg Monroe
PHI-Cole Aldrich
LAC-Al-Farouq Aminu
MIL-Ed Davis
MEM-Stanley Robinson
HOU-Ekpe Udoh
NOH-Xavier Henry
MIN(CHA)-Devin Ebanks (Perfect SF body. He has some touch, goot hops and seems like a winner)
MIA(TOR)-Willie Warren
CHI-Jan Vesley
MIA-Elias Harris
POR-Gordon Hayward
SAS-Elliot Williams
OKC-Solomon Alabi
OKC(PHX)-Larry Sanders
NJN(DAL)-James Anderson
MIN(UTH)-Javaris Varando/Manny Harris (hard to say before Milicic-saga is decided)
BOS-Craig Brackins
MEM(DEN)-Javaris Varando/Patrick Patterson (depends on our pick)
ORL-Paul George
ATL-Gani Lawai
MEM(LAL)-Kalin Lucas
WAS(CLE)-Terrico White*

Ah crap, when I put Whiteside in there I took Davis out. Patrick Patterson got pushed down about ten picks, when I put ED in. I don't think PP is very good.

Damion James?

Didn't see him at all in the 1st round...

If he is available at either of the Wolves mid/late 1st round pick they have to take him...

Interesting - he's had a huge year for a team that doesn't have a PG and Pittman has been a disappointment.

If not for him, the Longhorns would be on the proverbial bubble...he's a double-double machine.

OK. I'll do one but only a lottery (+ cha pick) mock draft now because I haven't watched enough of the later prospects...

NJN-John Wall
MIN-Evan Turner
GSW-DeMarcus Cousins
SAC-Derrick Favors
IND-Cole Aldrich
UTH(NYK)-Wes Johnson
WAS-Al-Farouq Aminu
DET-Xavier Henry
PHI-Greg Monroe
LAC-Hassan Whiteside
MIL-Ed Davis
MEM-Patrick Patterson
HOU-Stanley Robinson
NOH-Elias Harris
MIN(CHA)-Solomon Alabi. He has the size we need, blocks shots and can develop behind Love and Jefferson.

Not hate on AFA, just fit. All the teams above in the lottery are pretty good with Forwards. IMO all the guys on my mock from Whiteside and up are better than AFA and then the fit just doesn't work til the Clippers.

Just an idea but maybe we could make a rule that everytime u edit your mock you have to explain why on the board with a new post.

Hey, another board where Timberwolves like to do mocks... nice. I don't want to enter this competition, but I like reading/seeing mocks especially if they have good commentary afterwards.

Turner + one of Monroe/Aldrich/Whiteside = win

NJN-John Wall -duh
MIN-Evan Turner -duh
GSW-DeMarcus Cousins -duh
SAC-Derrick Favors -duh
IND-Cole Aldrich -will win birds heart over monroe, could see them trade for a young PG here
UTH(NYK)-Xavier Henry -Perfect fit for utah deron racks up the easy assist
WAS-Al-Farouq Aminu -Can't see them picking a big man. blatche beasting. Mcgee shows flashes
DET-Hassan Whiteside -highest upside player, could see them trading out though
PHI-Wes johnson -they have enough bigs, johnson can stretch the floor alongside iggy
LAC-Stanley Robinson -again they have no desperate need for bigs, but could use a combo forward
MIL-Ed Davis -best pf left solid fit on their team
MEM-Jan Vesely -No clue why, never seen him. They need a future pf though?
HOU-Willie Warren -meh?
NOH-Patrick Patterson - CP3 to Patterson? pshh?
MIN(CHA)-Greg Monroe - BOOM I win
