What's everyones opinion on Armstrong?
do you think he can make the rotation? is he a 'brian cook' on this team? i dunno much about him, just that he was ok in his first years in new orleans. then this year was sposed to be a breakout year for him with okafor gone, but that didn't happen.
if anything i'd try him a little bit and see if he can do anything productive. imo he's a 3rd string 4/5. there is jordan hill also who was playing ok in his last 2 weeks as a knick.

I've always been a fan of Hilton Armstrong. Yeah, he's not an NBA starter. I get that. But he''s quick, he's smart, and he knows how to quietly make up for his physical shortcomings.
In short: He ain't Shaq. But he's flexible, young, and deserves to be on an NBA roster.

Armstrong is a BUM.
He has no desire to improve as an NBA player. This became evident in New Orleans. He couldn't get consistent burn on a team that hasn't really been deep by any means in the front court during his tenure there.
He was a filler to make salaries work. He provides depth and will only play if we are hit by even more injuries than we already have. He won't be a Rocket past this season.

He sucks because he's too skinny and doesn't care about improving that.

We should be playing Hill not Armstrong or Jeffries. He's the only one of the 3 who is in the long term plans of the team.
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

Agreed.

Also agreed, though I wouldn't mind resigning Jeffries at a more reasonable contract (it won't happen due to our present salary structure) - 1.3-2.5m/yr ish - or retaining Armstrong (it'd be nice if his salary was lower, but as is, I doubt we retain him for 3m => 6m with luxtax).

Hilton was a lottery pick in 2006, 12th overall selection. Rockets drafted his UCONN teammate Rudy Gay 8th overall that year.
Here are 24 NBA players who were selected later than 12th in the 2006 NBA draft who have/had better NBA careers than Hilton Armstrong.
Rajon Rondo
Kyle Lowry
Paul Milsap
Leon Powe
Daniel Gibson
Ronnie Brewer
Thabo Sefelosha
Rodney Carney
Marcus Williams (former UCONN teammate)
Josh Boone (former UCONN teammate)
Shannon Brown
Jordan Farmar
Sergio Rodriguez
Mardy Collins
Steve Novak
Renaldo Balkman
Solomon Jones
Craig Smith
Ryan Hollins
Oleksiy Pecherov
JJ Barea (undrafted)
Chris Quinn (undrafted)
Walter Herrmann (undrafted)
Pops Mensah Bonsu (undrafted)
He's not the biggest bust from that draft however, Patrick O'Bryant was picked 9th overall and Mouhamed Sene was picked 10th overall and both are/were worse NBA players than Hilton. Also Adam Morrison was picked 3rd that year and while his numbers are better than Hilton's there was a lot more expected from him.

How can you all of those players has a better NBA career than Hilton? When some of em aren't even in the league anymore?

the only ones on that list no longer in the NBA are Walter Herrmann, who chose to leave for Europe and Pops, who has career averages of 3.3 ppg and 3.1 rpg vs Hilton's 3.5 ppg and 2.7 rpg (Hermmann had 5.4 ppg and 2.1 rpg in his NBA career)
