I think the Lakers were looking at options, but nothing materialized...unfortunately. I would have loved to land another piece to help keep us up with the arms race.

As others have already stated, our biggest thing in the playoffs is going to be the health of our team, particularly Kobe, Bynum, and Gasol. If those three are all healthy, we have a great chance to repeat.

Also, I think we have yet to see how Artest can really improve our team. If he can continue to develop his feel with our players in the triangle by the time the playoffs start, that will be a weapon we really haven't capitalized on yet, this year, despite leading the West in record and second only to the Cavs in the whole NBA.

A note on the Cavs - by trading Z, they are putting all their eggs in Shaq's basket, especially health - wise. That is a roll of the dice. Some have speculated that Z will be bought out and return to Cleveland. However, I would not totally count on that, as Z was less than thrilled by the Shaq being brought in to begin with and who knows what he thinks now that they shipped him out.

So to summarize, the Cavs could be very vulnerable in the middle in the playoffs, which could be their undoing if facing the Magic and definitely the Lakers.

From my point of view it looks like Mitch wasn't very creative in the trade process.

Why didn't Mitch make the trade for Hinrich and then worry about trading Sasha this summer after we locked up another Championship?

Buss has to pay the luxury tax this year anyways so what that difference. I believe that Buss concern was paying extra tax next year with Hinrich's salary added without trading Sasha.

The right move was to acquire Hinrich at any cost and dump Sasha this Summer.

This was a case where saving money became more important than winning another Championship.

Our glaring weakness is PG. Something should have been done to fix that.

Mitch has done an "okay" job. I can't say great because he signed Sasha and Luke to horrible deals and it has crippled us in negotiations.

In my opinion there isn't any excuse for the trade deadline to pass with having a legit PG.

Say what you want man.

Denver, Dallas, and Cleveland will beat us in 5 or 6 games because of the PG issue.

This is the first time that I've been fearful of losing in a long time.

I wish I shared your same optimism bro.

I just don't see us beating those teams. We got lucky last year with Jameer Nelson getting hurt and Fish hitting those shots in the Finals.

I really just don't understand how Mitch could be so incompetent and not address the PG issue.

isnt this why america is in record debt?

its ok, lets just spend now, itll all work out later...

if saving money was so important, why wasnt farmar dumped for nothing? why was shannon brown re-signed? why was lamar odom re-signed? why was artest signed at all??

god damn, we're so spoilt. dr buss is the best owner and basketball AND U EXPECT MORE???

the PG issue has hurt us all year, but teams wont be hurting us on defense as long as we aren't collapsing like high school kids on every type of penetration and not leave the shooters

Stop letting other fan bases tell you that we're spoiled because we are not.

Being great is what Lakers fans are accustomed to. So when there is a GLARING hole at PG it's worth saying something about. We have the worst PG rotation out of all the playoff teams.

This is going to be the reason why we lose in the WCF's. I can take losing. But not when it's at the hands of incompetence.

so... we're used to greatness so its not being spoilt??

thats like a rich kid getting a brand new car in a different colour to what she wanted!! and then chucking a tantrum (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FnSGrrWMjQg)

management did ALL THEY COULD in terms of working within their budget, ITS THEIR MONEY, NOT YOURS! you can't make demands because you as a fan are so emotionally invested, if you wanted it done right, go out and buy the lakers and then see if you would've done the same thing
