Re: Combine thread
Any word on why Tebow elected to pass on the bench press? It has long been rumored that this is the one thing that he can do that would really "wow" everyone at the combine, so its kind of surprising to see him not do it.

LOL. He has more hair in the back than on top but it's no ponytail. He wears one of those old-school phone cord headsets on the back of his head that probably makes it look like a ponytail. He is one freaky looking dude in person.

^^ They'll proably be a list out there somewhere when all times come official.
Jacoby Ford and CJ Spiller the two fastest at 4.28. Damn.
I thought tebow impressed in the drills he did.

Re: Combine thread
Just typed up the notes for today.
Ford and Spiller both ran 4.28. Next fastest WR was my man Taylor Price at 4.41. A lot of prominent RBs ran very slow, many didn't break 4.6. Biggest surprises were McCluster running 4.55 (bad) and Gerhart running 4.53 (good). Anthony Dixon hurt himself with bad times, so did Blount not breaking 4.6 and with slower 10-second splits than John Conner, who is one big hombre as a fullback.
Say what you want about Tim Tebow as a QB but the man is one impressive athlete. His vertical jump was a good 6" higher than almost every other QB and Tebow is easily the most top-heavy of the group. Jarrett Brown is built like a linebacker. Actually he is somewhat physically similar to Jamarcus Russell if Russell lost his baby fat.
Chad Jones weighed in today noticeably lighter than what he played at at LSU. He says he's lost 15 pounds and will run in the mid 4.4s and as a symbol of his dedication to football he gave away all his baseball equipment. I'm not a baseball guy at all but apparently he can throw 98 MPH and hits with big-time power. He keeps talking up his brother Rahim Alem, like he knows people aren't real high on Alem. He's right.
Helping themselves:
Golden Tate
Arrelious Benn, interviewing well
Jahvid Best
Ryan Mathews
Marcus Easley
Emmanuel Sanders, who I admittedly know very little about
Tyson Alualu weighed in at 296 but still looks lithe, which lends credence to his ability to play 3-4 DE. He is a major riser, no way he falls out of the top 50.
T.J. Ward looks a lot bigger here than on film
Hurting themselves:
Shay Hodge
Joique Bell, who did not interview well and ran worse
Brandon Banks weighing in at 149 and actually looking smaller than that
Damian Williams, who looks skinny and has very small and physically weak hands
Trevard Lindley weighed in at 183 with almost no visible muscle tone

Re: Combine thread
Does Mike Williams have any chance of being drafted? First round talent but a total knucklehead. Do you think a team like Cincinnati,Oakland or Washington(I remember you once saying Shanny believed he could coach anyone up regardless of character concerns) take a chance on him?
Also where does Seattle go assuming they take a QB at 6? Spiller? Brian Price? Mays? Dez Bryant?

I think Spiller is def. in the mix at #6. That's too high for the other guys you mentioned, but it could be Joe Haden, could be Derrick Morgan, could be Brandon Graham, maybe Eric Berry but I doubt it.
I don't think Mike Williams will be drafted, certainly not in the first 5 rounds. Quitting on his team instead of taking a one-half game suspension was basically career suicide. The team I'm here with doesn't even have him listed.

Re: Combine thread
Spiller ended up at 4.37 on the official, Jahvid Best was the fastest at 4.35.
Agree with Jeff on Mathews, he was rather impressive. I was disappointed with Jonathan Dwyer. Not only the 40 but he looked like he came in overweight.

Re: Combine thread
The day in brief:
Brandon Graham comes out impressing, then tweaks a hammy
Rolando McClain didn't work out
Geno Atkins, Lamarr Houston and Sean Weatherspoon impressed
George Selvie, Ricky Sapp and Carlos Dunlap did not. If you are marketing yourself as a pass rusher off the edge, you'd better run and do the shuttle drills real well, and none of them did.
Terrence Cody is still jiggling from his 40s that he ran about 7 hours ago
I haven't seen any of the DB bench reps # and I'm now on the way home. A lot of people left today, or even yesterday.

I read that he did actually lose some weight and was around 352 when he weighed in.

Re: Combine thread
What's the news on Myron Rolle. Is he expected to break the 1st 2 rounds?!?!
Or are teams still weary about his commitment to football?

Big day for him today. The biggest knock on Rolle is his range and closing speed and those are two things that he can help today with good runs. There is a little concern by some about his commitment but he's done a good job of shooting that down. His year off is a plus in some teams' eyes because they feel like he's already scratched that itch.

I'm shocked Dexter McCluster was so slow. He was running away from guys in the SEC, I would have expected sub 4.4

Re: Combine thread
Mays just ran an unofficial 4.24. This year, the fast unofficial times seem to have a couple hundreths added to them when official. Still, that's still probably sub 4.3.
Rolle looked really good/fast yet his unofficial time was 4.6+.

Re: Combine thread
I had a feeling Mays would challenge the record. There is nothing he cannot do physically; too bad he just isn't a very good football player.
The biggest news of the morning to me was Joe Haden not breaking 4.6. Dude can cover like glue but that number is going to scare some people. Myself included. With the way Berry weighed in and ran I have to think there's no doubt he goes before Haden as the top DB.
Personally bummed for Barry Church, who ran in the upper 4.7s from what I heard. If you could put his football skills into Taylor Mays' body you'd have the greatest safety ever.
