Goin to Utah!

Post#1 » by LAWKK » Fri Feb 26, 2010 3:06 pm

 I'm flying into Utah tonight for a ski trip with a couple buddies and had a some questions I was hoping you could help me with...

- I'm trying to go to the game tomorrow night. Not trying to sit lower level, more or less just trying to get in. How difficult will it be to get 3 tickets? Are their scalpers outside the arena or do you recommend I find something on ebay?

- I'm staying in Park City and have a rental car. How far is the drive? Will it be difficult to do for a south Florida guy? I see its been snowing pretty bad.

- How far is the stadium from the airport? (I need to drop the car back off after the game)

Any other comments - suggestions - input is welcome.

Thanks for your help!!!!

-eBay or KSL.com (classifieds) work best for price. There are scalpers on every corner at the game. So if you dont find anything on the internet, scalpers will be there. Make sure to haggle with them. You will have to pay a premium, but you can still talk them down cuz there are so many of them. Just walk from corner to corner until you get a good price.

-About 30 minutes. Maybe 45 if you get lost. Take I-80 west. It will turn into I-15. Get in the far left lane. Take the 4th south exit (it is a carpool lane exit). Go east (right) off the exit. Go to 4th west or 3rd west. Turn north (left). The ESA is about 4 blocks up. You can try to park for free or pay $4-$10

-Airport is about 15 minutes away. Like 5 to 10 miles.

You wont have any problems getting tix for the game. If you want upperbowl seats you will have no problem just walking up to the box office and getting 3. Jazz tix are pretty cheap compared to the rest of the league.

Thanks for the help guys. In Miami getting tickets is NEVER an issue but was not sure in Utah. Jazz are hot right now and for a Saturday night I was not sure how difficult it would be. But, if you guys say so, I'll just buy em when I get there.

As for night life, I assume the bars are walking distance from the stadium? Any area particular you suggest I check out for some drinks after the game?

Thanks again! :lift:

The Airport isn't far from the Arena at all. It is maybe 15-20 minutes depending on traffic.

Careful driving to Park City, Parley's Canyon can be a real beast especially if it is snowing.

The ticket office should have tickets available as, well or just go with the scalpers.

Yeah getting tix shouldn't be a problem for upper bowl, but if you want lower bowl i'd probably suggest buying online in advance and picking up at Will Call.

Parley's can be scary if it's snowing. Coming down is much worse (count how many trucks you see pulled over) but thousands of people do it every day so just pay attention and be careful and you'll be fine.

As for bars, there are lots within walking distance. Pre-gaming at Skybox is always fun. That's at the Gateway mall which is just across the street to the west of the arena. Go there and watch the pregame show then just walk across the street for the game. After the game, go east and there should be plenty of bars and clubs. Murphys is where we always go (I think it's 160 S. Main, so right off of 200 South). I also like the Red Rock Brewery/restaurant on 200W/250S (a couple of blocks from the ESA), they always have great beer and food. If you want more of a straight up pub, you could also try Poplar street pub right next door to that.

enjoy.

I've gotten game-day tickets before from stubhub.com for a great price, and they just email them to you right away. Might be cheaper than scalping.

I'm out of the loop on downtown hot spots but I think Lumpys or Sand Bar are the big clubs that people do. In Park City, where I live, you won't have any problem finding a place to party since they are all on one road. Harry-Os is the huge mega club, but Star Bar and Downstairs (which is owned by Danny Masterson and he's there sometimes I hear) are popular. As far as just regular watering holes if you don't care about where you go there's O'Shucks which is by Harry-Os and Lindsee O'Michaels which is right underneath Town Lift, PC Mountain Resort's main street ski lift.

Went to the game last night. First off, I took your guys' word on not pre-buying tickets and the upper level was completly sold out at the box office. Cheapest tickets were going for about $65 but I found a guy on the street and got 3 uppers (17$ face value) for $70 so that wasnt bad. Pre game me and my buddies went to SkyBoc and had a couple beers. Thats a pretty cool spot. Ended up sneaking in lower level, section 8 for the game and it was a lot of fun.

After the game, went to a few bars (couldnt tell you names) and then headed to Park City. All in all, it was a great time. Thank you all for your help.

And I am a Heat fan btw :banghead: lol
