Got to be proud of USA though. Beat the Canadians in their place and nearly beat them again. I thought Canada would win this in a rout. Youngest team out of all in the Olympics. They'll be back in 2014 if they allow NHL players.

Even though Canada won the gold medal, Ryan Miller was the player of the Olympics IMO. Not the gold medal game, the entire Olympics.

Miller has been outstanding. He's kept the USA in games when they faulted.

And they faulted a lot. Miller is a beast.

Wonder if they still would have had the pyrotechnics show if the USA had won?

I'd hope so - other wise, bad form.

The people I feel sorriest for are the players for Detroit and Colorado.

As if they have to follow a game like this one!!

The NHL is going to seem like a snooze fest compared to the Olympic hockey these games!!! The standard has been sensational.

Ryan Miller is ridiculous. Whoever he plays for will always have a shot as long as he's in nets.

I dogged on Sidney all tournament for playing like ****. Finally he makes up for it with one shot.

This was the 3rd best hockey game I have ever watched. 1 being the 1980 US vs. Russia game. Didn't see it live but I have watched the reply over and over again and never get sick of it. 2 being the Pens beating the Red WIngs last season and 3 being this game. As disappointing as this was to lose, I couldn't be more proud of the team. They played their hearts out till the end and wasn't even expected to medal and for them to beat Canada in the prelims and go to OT in the Gold Medal game, this will help USA hockey in the future, as well as the WJC's gold medal earlier in the year.

I now know how Flyer and Capitals fans feel now. Crosby broke my heart and for once, and hopefully the only time I will say this, I hate you Cindy Crysby.

Anyway, before this game, if Canada had to win, better Crosby scoring the winner.

Ryan Kesler is the man. I have a man crush on him now. As for Zach Parise, I will never boo him again and Brooks Orpik had a helluva tournament. He is in playoff mode which is great for the Pens.

Congrats to the Canadians (expect Mike Richards and Chris Pronger. They can still eat my s**t).

EDIT:
Crosby is 22 years old and now has a stanley cup ring and a game winning gold medal goal, all in the same year. What else does he have to accomplish? Amazing. The kid is a winner.

If players are allowed to play, as of right now, he will be. But lots of things can happen between now and 2014. USA has some good goaltenders in the system right now.

Wow

definitely a downer, but how can you not be proud of the boys? They had no business playing that well and going that far for their age and experience level. I wanted that Gold, but Silver is no joke. What a tourney!

Great game guys. Miller was beasting the entire tournament.

Not sure if they showed you the video down in the States, but there were maybe 100,000 people celebrating in Toronto last night, pretty much every major road was closed down full of people. If we lost it would have been a nation-wide riot. lol.

Definitely one of the best hockey games of all time.

Great game, one of the best i've ever seen. Miller, Parise and Kesler were all amazing. You guys played great and have nothing to be ashamed of, can't wait for 2014.

Yup, awesome experience.

Iginla was my favorite player of the tournament. He made his line work with a mix of grit and offensive talent.

The most watched hockey game in America since the 1980 Gold Medal game

Vancouver – March 1, 2010 – Sunday afternoon’s USA vs. Canada gold medal hockey game, that NBC’s Bob Costas called, “One of the greatest sports events I have ever seen,” was the most-watched hockey game in 30 years. Canada’s epic 3-2 overtime victory (3:20-6:13 p.m. ET) drew an average viewership of 27.6 million, the most watched hockey broadcast of any kind since the USA vs. Finland 1980 gold medal game in Lake Placid on Feb. 24, 1980 (32.8 million). For historical comparison, the “Miracle on Ice” USA-Russia semifinal game that aired on tape delay on Feb 22, 1980 from the Lake Placid Games drew 34.2 million average viewers.

The audience peaked at 34.8 million viewers (18.6/34 hh rating) from 5:30-6 p.m. ET, when the USA’s Zach Parise (New Jersey Devils) sent the game to overtime with the tying goal with just 24.4 seconds left in regulation.

To put the numbers in perspective, Canada/USA ranks as the 4th-most viewed non-NFL sporting event of 2010, behind only the Texas/Alabama BCS National Championship Game (30.8 mil), the Opening Ceremony of the Winter Olympics (32.6 mil), and Night 6 of the Winter Olympics (29.4 mil).

The game drew more viewers than two NFL playoff games (Ravens/Patriots and Jets/Bengals), topped all but two primetime windows of the Winter Olympics, and drew over twice as many viewers as the Daytona 500 two weeks earlier (13.3 mil).

Additionally, the game drew more viewers than every Major League Baseball game since 2004, every NBA game since '98, every college basketball game since at least '98, and all but two college football telecasts since '00 (only Texas/Alabama and Texas/USC drew more viewers).
