Cromartie?

Post#1 » by Liqourish » Wed Feb 17, 2010 2:35 pm

According to ESPN, the Chargers are looking to trade CB Antonio Cromartie for a RB or a draft pick to grab a RB. AC is only 25 yrs old and had a good season a few years back. He hasn't meshed well with the team recently and could use a change of scenery.

I would much rather trade a pick for Cromartie than multiple picks (players) for Dorsey. We have a pick of Suh or McCoy at #2. Trade a 3rd for Cromartie and then draft another lineman later on.

I'd take both lol

2nd for Dorsey
3rd for Cromartie

I mean, why not? You will not find any player better then Dorsey in the second and you won't find any player better then Cromartie in the 3rd.

We're not getting Cromartie though lol I think NYJ will get him tbh. They are selling Thomas Jones and he'd be a good fit in SD whereas Cromartie opposite Revis would be deadly.

Not a done deal, but I'm hearing Cromartie could be a Lion soon. Regardless, Cro has almost certainly played his last game for Chargers--ka

I'm not a fan at all.
Think about it: San Diego is a legit Super Bowl contender. Why would they give up a frontline player like Cromartie? Answer: He's an overrated, annoying malcontent that can't cover anyone since his hip injury.

I'm always overly wary when chronically successful franchises are so quick to give up on a player. And most everyone I know that talks about Cro doesn't like him as a player or a person.

Scary info about Cromartie from Detroit News

Cromartie brings plenty of baggage with him, including multiple paternity lawsuits after fathering at least seven children with five different women in the last several years.

FSU coaches also said he's a moron. Hopefully our defense isn't too difficult for him to comprehend cuz it seems like outside of "stick to this man and try to catch the ball if it comes to you", he doesn't know much.

How old is he, 25? 7 kids with 5 different women by the young age of 25 is Jerry Springer material.....

I don't care who he has children with, as long as he's improving our team. And right now, he'd be the best CB we've got. If all it costs us is a 5th rounder (which we have two of), I see absolutely no reason to not do it.

He gets to a new team, where he can get a fresh start, and we get a year of his services to see what he's got before his contract runs out. Worst case scenario, we're out a second 5th round pick.

Keep the 5th rounder....

Rumor has it the Chargers will release Cromartie if they can't trade him. When released, the Lions have first dibs at him via the waiver wire....

Do the trade. Cromartie is better than any 5th round CB anyway.

I get that you seem to have a problem with him, but I'm sure Mayhew knows alot more about the kid than any of us do. Mayhew was a FSU man, I'm sure he's talked to FSU coaches about Cromartie. AC played college ball with Ernie Sims. I'm sure Mayhew has discussed AC with Sims, Gunther Cunningham, etc.

Martin Mayhew said that he was going o be selective in this years free agency and go after guys he's targeted. That tells me that he's been hot on Cromartie for awhile. If he thinks trading a late pick for the kid is worth it, I trust his judgement.

Did you read my post?

I said keep the pick and just claim him off waivers....Lions have first dibs on any guys off waivers.

No they don't, the Rams do. And theres no gaurantee that the Chargers can't reach a deal with another team before he's waived. You're taking alot of liberties and some of your reasoning is just wrong.

I read an MLive article today (Too lazy to post the link... just take my word for it) but the talks are dead. Cro isn't physical enough for Schwartz.

^ exactly. LOL at this. Cro isn't a big tackler, he's more of a coverage guy. The guys on our roster do neither. What a joke.

According to someone in the Lions org talks died when the Chargers insisted that Maurice Morris be included with the draft pick. Lions said pick only or no deal, Chargers wanted Morris + pick. Deal off the table.

Should be some room for negotiation in-between talking trade and just, "ok, forget it..."

Make the deal 5th for Cro

or

Morris/6th

Return to Detroit Lions
