Will he be back in time for Playoffs? Or will he miss some playoff games?

Since the surgery hasn't even been completed yet (well, maybe it was early this morning?), there's no set timetable. With the 6-8 week estimated timetable, if it's 6 weeks he'll return with a game left in the regular season and if it's 8 weeks he'll return in the middle of the second round.

So a lot is still up in the air....but barring the worst case scenario, he'll be back in time for the ECF.

Just heard an ESPN reort that he should definately be back by the time we would face the magic. We really only need him for the last couple of playoff series anyway.Maybe a few weeks off will be a blessing in disguise.

We'll probably lose the HCA to the Lakers. Starting the playoffs without Shaq is also terrible news.

Shaq confident of quicker return

The center, who had thumb surgery on Monday, told ESPN's Jeremy Schaap that he will be back in six weeks instead of the eight that the team said he will miss. That would allow him to return for the start of the playoffs
