what if the coin landed in the suns favor
a what if thread that i suppose could be fun, but what if the phoenix got the first draft pick of the 1969 draft instead of Milwaukee thanks to the coin flip?

I think I speak on behalf of every person on here when I say that Neal Walk was a much better pick and had a much greater career then Lew Alcindor...

Well I really wouldn't care that much as I didn't get to see Kareem. I started watching the NBA just after he retired.
But most probably he would have played a few seasons like he did with the bucks and then leave?

I'm not a fan of "What ifs?" because you can never predict what would have changed after that. Yes, we might have won a championship, but it's also possible we would never ended up with Steve Nash and had the "Seven Seconds or Less" teams that revolutionized NBA basketball. No, we didn't win a championship, but we probably had the most popular product on the hardwood for four solid years and got to watch of the most unique point guards in the history of the league.

I'm not sure, the same could really be said about anything in basketball or outside of it. Like what if they made this trade, drafted this guy, signed this guy, etc...

Us winning that would have messed up the whole Magic + Kareem era. Who says he didnt stay in Phx where it was warm and sunny, etc. No Lakers to play against Bird and the Celtics. Late 70s-80s Bball is forever changed due to the fact that there is no Bird/Magic rivalry because Magic cant get to the finals w/o Kareem. . . They can get far, but not the finals. We prob wouldnt have seen all the players we saw on our team throughout the years. Barkley, KJ, Majerle etc.

What if Atlanta didn't get the number 3 pick and got number 4 instead. Who would the Suns have gotten?

I've thought about this alot and I think history would have worked out very similarly from an NBA perspective. I think Kareem would have one a title in Phoenix as he did in Milwaukee and then left for LA just as he did. I do believe the Suns would have gotten more for him than Milwaukee did, but I think the Lakers was his destiny.
What if the Suns had gotten David Robinson instead of losing the lottery and getting the second pick that year and winding up with Armon Gilliam?

Neil Walk Kicked me out of an assembly at my middle school he was speaking at when I was in 6th or 7th grade so that probably wouldnt have happened.

1. I think that Kareem in Phoenix would have made them the team of the 70's, especially if they get the Big O instead of Milwaukee, adequately replace him when he retires in the mid-70's, and sign a guy by the name of George Gervin, who they drafted in 1974 in a later round, but spurned them for the ABA. And, there would have been no dynasty in LA in the 80's, which would have been great!
2. If the Suns would have won the flip for David Robinson 23 years ago, the Suns would have won a few titles in the 90's. And, the Spurs would probably not be in San Antonio anymore, from what I heard. Robinson almost decided not to sign with them. We may be looking at the New Orleans Voodoo, Kansas City Scouts, or a San Diego team to replace the Clippers today instead of the Spurs. Maybe Duncan, Parker, Ginobili, and Bruce Bowen end up leading a Celtic resurgence in the late 90's and 00's with Rick Pitino as coach.

We got screwed out of multiple championships bc those coinflips...
With David Robinson we would still have had the players to get Barkley and KJ.
Even before that with KJ, Majerle, Chambers, Robinson we would have been favorites in the West I'd say over the Lakers.
Luck sucks.......... we haven't had any.. we are the "cursed" franchise of the NBA.

If Robin Lopez keeps improving, he may have been the best thing for us. Very hard to get a good center.

Yeah but his brother isn't bad either.
