Lebron to pull a Kobe....

Post#1 » by slickgreek » Tue Mar 2, 2010 5:23 am

LeBron James could reportedly have a new number next season, but Cleveland Cavaliers fans hope the words remain the same.

James filed paperwork to switch from No. 23 to No. 6, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported on Monday. He beat a Wednesday deadline to make the request.

The All-Star said in November that he was thinking of giving up 23 out of respect for his hero Michael Jordan, but at that time he was "50-50," according to the newspaper.

"I've done it," James told the Plain Dealer. "I already sent it in. I'm going to be No. 6."

Six is James' jersey number on the Olympic team, but the NBA does not have to grant his request.

James will be part of the vaunted 2010 free-agent class that includes Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. While Bulls fans would like to see him try to make No. 6 as legendary as No. 23 in Chicago, New York has also maneuvered to have enough cap space to sign James.

Cleveland can sign James to a longer, more lucrative deal, however.

I'm sorry I really don't think he is giving up number 23 because of Jordan. Its either because he wants to have the best selling jersey( and beat out Kobe), or this could be a sign of him switching teams this summer.

Don;t think he needs to file paperwork if he's switching teams.

If Lebron will a Kobe, he will have to resign with the Cavs, win 4 championships, get married, commit adultery, and have a feud with Shaq.

Potentially he could win multiple titles, he could fight with SHAQ this year (after Lakers beat them in the finals) and I believe he is married so....its possible

Just another bad choice by LaCrab James. Who do you think of when you think of 6, Julius, not Lebron.

If he truly wants to be the global icon, and the greatest player ever he should go to New York, at the very least he'll have immediate access to some of the best marketing superstars around. In New York he truly would be the king of new york, and challenge the yanks for adulation. Let's assume it's the off season and he's going to New York and he hired a new marketing team I guarantee he wouldn't be advised to select #6.

man seriously i hate that arrogant idiot. i mean he can change his numbers any day he wants and to whatever number he wants, i'm really ok with that, but apart from that he is just the most egocentric star in the league. that's not from the way he plays but the way he acts in interviews. i mean it doesn't really fit into this thread i know :) but isn't there anyone else annoyed by the way he talks about himself all the time?

If he really wanted to be different, he'd choose 64 or something.

No 6 inches is the legal size limit by law to catch and keep a crab, if its below that then you have to release it back. Its also the size of his penis Shaq rapped about it. It was called "6 inches between you and your witness protection"
