Looks like Ilgauskas is having cold feet. Anyone think that he asked LeBron was he staying in Cleveland? Maybe LeBron spilled the beans to his ole' buddy I heard they are pretty close...

What would that have to do with coming back for the rest of the year?

If LBJ wants to win the most possible rings, he'll come to LA. If his ego tells him that he has to win a ring as the undisputed best player on his team, he'll stay in Cleveland or go to a rebuilding franchise.

Personally, I think he wants to win. That's it. He is a different type of superstar. He is VERY unselfish. As long as he is paid like LeBron James should be paid, I really don't think he cares about how many points he scores.

If he comes he'll average a triple double ... focusing less on scoring and more on passing and rebounds.

If he comes, it'll be because HE KNOWS that he will win, at minimum, three rings (probably more)guaranteed.

too bad he wont take a paycut and let his increase in NIKE contract take care of everything...dont forget his contract from them skyrockets if he plays in a big city

This is a pipe-dream, but to the guys who wouldn't want Lebron on your team - WTF? You'd really pass up on the best player in the league, a once in a generation talent? Right.

first of all, i dont see it as a possibilty.

however, if he was even remotely close, I would see Dr. Buss pullin out all the stops to get him. he could raise ticket prices BIG TIME, and the staples center would still be filled to capacity.

third, phil jackson knows how to coach 'em up in this style of offense. we wouldnt need much, but any other parts alongside kobe and lebron would automatically guarantee us a trip to the finals. seriously, you could throw in brown, mbenga and lamar and that team would dominate.

so buss would do it to win titles if it was a possiblity to get him here. however, i dont see it happenin.

LeBron is a great physical talent, but he plays like a bull in the china shop most of the time.
He's a big heavy guy and with as much abuse as he's inflicting/taking, I just think he's at a high risk of a rapid decline... I honestly can see him getting hurt on a drive and never being near the same.
If it were me, I'd look at a Durant type player...

So yeah, I'd take him if he really wanted to come here and learn under Kobe, but if it was just a matter of going out and buying the biggest name out there at any cost, I don't know if I'd get LeBron...

I also worry a bit about his maturity level and Ego... Kobe and MJ were arrogant fools... Maybe to the point of hurting the team from time to time, but they wanted to Win more than anything else. LeBron sometimes looks to me like he wants to be LeBron more than anything else. It's not a huge deal in Cleveland, but LA could turn someone like that into a monster.

Not saying it's a bad idea, just saying that it's more complicated than just 'LeBrons the best out there, do it!!!'
