It has been mentioned on the Celtic board that the Jazz had offered Karl Malone for Kevin McHale and Auerbach refused the trade. Do any Jazz fans know anything about this? Which year would this be?

Thats hard to believe, due to their ages. Malone didnt emerge until 87-88, and by that time McHale was old enough that there was no way Utah would have done that. I doubt they would have done it even in McHales prime....they took Griffith over him to begin with.

There was a Malone for Oakley trade that was close to being done. Never heard of this one.

I agree. I can't find anything about it in google searches either. I figure if Jazz fans don't know anything about it, it's probably not true.

He did have his share of mistakes. I'll just assume it's false until I have reason to believe otherwise.

Yeah, I can see an old school coach being absolutely loyal, rather than a modern cutthroat GM.
