Sweet. I wonder what he's going to do with his free tickets.

Log jam doesn't matter. He's a 13th player. Plus he appears to have good size and is a defensive specialist.

This is obviously just to bide time until they figure out the vet they want, and talk him into coming here.

I've coached O before. GREAT SIGNING. I'm very happy for him. He comes from the absolute worst upbringing you could imagine, growing up on the South-side of Chicago. To make a long story short, he was shot in the leg the summer before his senior year in college so he was forced to transfer to a small NAIA school for safety purposes.

Othyus plays with a ton of heart. He's undersized 3/2 player, but with the strongest build imaginable and very long arms. Can create his own shot very easily, and a super strong finisher going to the rim. Gets to the line a lot, and will put people on posters in the process. Very smart player. Understands the game. Played 4 positions for us in the D-League, from point guard to power forward. Very active and strong defender and will get steals and blocks.

Shooting is his weakness, though it seems better to me this year than last. Free throw shooting is the big concern. He'll hit enough mid-range jumpers to keep the defense honest, and will take very few threes, and make a couple.

I have no doubts about O's ability to stick in the NBA. Not sure if the Jazz will be the right opportunity for him to stick or not, but he's going to play harder than anyone else in the league if he gets on the floor, that's for damn sure.

Here's the story on how he was shot and his life up until the end of his senior year in college.

When it comes to get players that can contribute out from nowhere, Jazz scouting has earned some little credit I think. Let's wait and watch. Why are we going to puke any kind of judgement about the move when we don't even know dude's face?

Thanks for the background mnWI ! I hope you're right! Besides I really enjoy when guys have a shot at success. Of course to make THE story from this season he will have to make the game winner at the buzz against the Lakers! :D

Would also like to add that his numbers are down a bit this year from last year because he started the season with Cantu in Italy, but wanted to come back and shoot for the NBA. He didn't join our team until the second week in January, and it took him some time to fit in, because we have a very deep team. His stats from last season:

20.6 ppg, 8.8 rpg, 2.7 apg, 2.0 spg, 53% FG, 28.6% 3PFG%, 73.8% FT

I've just read Jeffers story... darn, I'm speechless. Now I really want him to succeed in a Jazz uni. It will be great for him AND it probably would show a little bit of a lesson to a couple dudes in our roster...

A 6'4" power forward was not exactly what I was hoping for.

Lets go ahead and see.
