Whiteside is compared to a young Marcus Camby, legit 7ft, can shotblock and rebound. He would fill our most gaping need if we could snatch him, but I'm not sure I'd take him that high. Its hard to say.

After last nights game, it really struck me that we need a legit all-star running mate for Reke. Durant/Westbrook is a deadly combo for many many years to come. Who in this draft would compliment Reke the best, I'm not sure. I really like Landry, and we definetly need to go to him more atm....he still strikes me as a 3rd option on a really good team. Kind of like Jeff Green for OKC, who is clearly the 3rd guy for them.

Who Petrie drafts might depend on if we sign anyone in FA. I think signing somone like Rudy Gay is a possibility. He would provide a definite upgrade for us, even if it would overload our SF position.

NOOB!!! :P

Whiteside is a 7 freshmen center playing for Marshall. He is an absolute BEAST on the defensive end.

I for one REALLY like Whiteside. When you watch him on the court he doesn't seem to "move around" like a big man. He seems incredibly fluid and mobile for a guy his size (6'11, 215). Would be great to draft him as a defensive anchor.

Just not with the #4 pick.

Agreed. But hey, if we continue to play well and end the season on a strong note, it might not be the worst thing in the world to have a latter pick around 8-12, if we could draft Whiteside. He fits the mold of our team, with defense and rebounding, and that really is our most glaring weakness right now.

I don't know, I'm very interested to see more of Landry as a major minute starter over the course of the next year and a half. I think Geoff Petrie may have scored a major prize and somebody that does have the potential to be at least a solid 2nd option offensively. So far he's been able to pick up the slack for Tyreke that nobody else has really been able to, not even Kevin Martin when he came back. Now, he's not a complete "superstar" type by any stretch, but knowing Petrie's history he'll build a team with one major guy (Tyreke) and then better than average guys at every other position creating a stronger overall team. I think the goal should now be to help cure some of the major weaknesses facing this team, namely experience and interior D.

Major weakness that should be addressed as priority numero UNO is DEFENSIVE REBOUNDING.

I've been thinking about that exact point. Aside from Tyreke, I don't see any players on our team with major star potential. But we do have a solid core of young talent that can grow together and form a "strong unit" not based around 1 or 2 players. Since Tyreke can be our clutch go-to-guy, I think this can be a good way to go. But I agree about Landry, I think he is a major steal for us. You can already see how his impact has changed the makeup of our team.

Landry is a steal! considering that we improved our team AND cut costs that's a big move.

We're still in BPA mode. This roster has a lot of players that have potential, but as you said the star power isn't there. I like Favor's athleticism, but with the few times I've seen him he looks like a project. I have no real gauge for his BB IQ. It seems he's been such an athletic freak that he hasn't needed to play smart.

I'm thinking he could be long term the player they get next to Tyreke.
