I'd be satisfied if we came out of FA with Antrelle Rolle and Julius Peppers, trade Greg Olsen for a 2nd round pick (or 1st, one can dream), and a backup RB with something left in the tank.

McClure:
Defensive end Julius Peppers has agreed to visit the Chicago Bears on Friday, according to agent Carl Carey. The Bears are the front-runner.

Sounds like we're getting Peppers and Chester Taylor. Great offseason if true. Taylor can probably start over Forte.

He's going to Cleveland on Friday too.

If he goes to Cleveland, it will be to celebrate after signing his contract at halas hall.

The Cardinals got Kerry Rhodes for a **** 4th and 7th rounder? Why didn't we get in on that?

Because we are already scrutinized for lack of picks.

Kerry Rhodes is a 1st round talent. A top 5 safety in the NFL for sure. A 4th and 7th is nothing for him.

Expect the Bears to start reducing player costs and release players this week, starting with tight end Desmond Clark, whom they’ve tried to trade without success so far…http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Broncos-want-firstrounder-for-Marshall.html

The Bears are one of the teams that have interest in Darren Sharper. I really doubt we land him though.

Cliff Levingston would love to see us land Darren Sharper or Ryan Clark. We need to address the safety position in free agency with someone who knows what they're doing, not a rookie who likely won't be all that good.

How about the offensive line? All of this will be for not if they don't majorly upgrade the offensive line.

IMO we should be able to grab one of the top rated OG in the 3rd round of the draft. That allows us to move FO over to his natural position at RT and compete with Schaffer for a starting spot there. Hopefully Beekman gets a shot to unseat Kruetz this year.

Bears interested in Lito Sheppard...
Lito Sheppard lines up suitors
Posted by Mike Florio on March 8, 2010 2:40 PM ET
Cut last week by the Jets, veteran cornerback Lito Sheppard is looking for a new home.

We're told that two teams are in the mix for his services. Per a league source, the Detroit Lions and the Chicago Bears have expressed interest.
To date, no visits have been scheduled.

Sheppard was traded last year from the Eagles to the Jets. The eight-year veteran appeared in 11 regular-season games with nine starts in 2009. He started eight in a row before being removed from the starting lineup for the AFC title game.

:banghead: "Oh my god" and Shaffer at RT is something I don't wanna think about.

What's up with the Lions? Are they actually trying to win or something?

We should, at the very least, take a look at Lilja.

Colts center Jeff Saturday disagreed with President Bill Polian's suggestion that the team's offensive line struggled in the Super Bowl.

But Polian is the one that makes personnel decisions, and he spoke loud and clear by releasing starting guard Ryan Lilja Monday, according to Alex Marvez of Fox.

Lilja was due a $1.73 million bonus soon, but the move is still surprising. He started every game for the Colts last season and is only 28 years old.

Ultimately, the Colts need better run blockers and Polian decided Lilja was only going to get in the way with a hefty base salary. Polian trusts the team's ability to develop players and he's usually right.

That trust allows Polian to make strong statements in print and on the transaction wire.

Sure seems like it. They just traded for Houston and signed Jonathon Wade this afternoon to help improve that abysmal secondary. KVB will surely help the DLine, as well.
