If we wanted to trade down, what would even be realistic?

For argument's sake, let's assume Seattle want to trade up. Is 6/14 too much? Is it more likely we get #6 and their 2nd rounder?

Same goes for anyone #4-10, right?

We'd get their 1st and 2nd rounder for moving down?

Bartender,

Well your disagreement is similar to the disagreement that Mayhew has with me. He believes in selling out the future to slap together crappy journeymen to give him better feelings about the present year. And that's why we are caught in a loop of perpetual losing.

Well, sure going down to 5 is a risk to lose Okung, but if Okung's gone then we're looking good for Berry. Just like last year, it all comes down to how much does Mayhew like Backus, and does he have a trading partner?

Seattles 6th pick is most likely heading to Denver as compensation for signing Brandon Marshall.

So we trade for Denver's 6 instead of Seattle's 6!

Okay.... We all know we need a RB and most likely aren't going to sign one of the RFAs... so who in the draft (in rounds 2-5) would you like to see the Lions take?

Jahvid Best- 1st or 2nd round?
Jonathan Dwyer- 1st or 2nd round?
Dexter McCluster- 2nd or 3rd round?
LeGarette Blount-4th or 5th round?
Joique Bell- 5th or 6th round?
Ben Tate- 4th or 5th round?

I wouldn't want to take a RB in the second round... I'd prefer in the 4th and 5th rounds... guys like Blount and Tate.

Montario Hardesty in the 3rd-4th round.

Not a big fan of Hardesty....don't think he has enough skill to make it in the NFL.

Rather have Tate, Bell, Gerhardt, or McKnight if we're looking at mid-round RBs

Ben Tate is growing on me. But I like Hardesty. I just think they'll be enough RBs available in the 4th round that I wouldn't even dream of addressing it before hand unless Ryan Matthews fell to #34.

Love Mathews...pegged him as my RB target as soon as the college season ended. Bummed his stock has risen so much...I was hoping we'd be able to get him as a sleeper in the 3rd/4th....

If we can't draft Kyle Wilson, I'd seriously consider Kareem Jackson (Alabama) at #34. Good size/speed combo and a pretty physical CB.

Still like the idea of getting OLB Dekoda Watson if he falls to us in the 4th....

Drafting Best in the 2nd seems to be gaining some momentum.

1) Suh
2) Best
3) Ghee

that wouldn't be too bad of a draft....

I'd hate Best in the 2nd. I mean, with his concussions and Kevin Smith's knee, we'd be seeing a lot of Mo Mo and Aaron Brown again this season.

What if we traded down and got #6/#14?

1a) RB Spiller
1b) OG Iutupi
2) CB Wilson/Jackson/McCourty
3) Best DT available

We don't need a RB in the first 3 rounds. Weak value bad timing.

We don't need an OG in the first 3 rounds. Too many higher positional priorities.

We don't need a DT in the first 3 rounds, unless it's Suh. Obviously we have more depth here than most other positions, why do you want another low round DT? That's one of the worst positions we could draft!

I somewhat agree. Would rather have Hardesty or Blount in the later rounds for RB.
Unless it's Suh or Brian Price in the 2nd, then I don't want a DT until later rounds. Maybe Linval Joseph or Cam Thomas. And OG would be good if we got Maurkice Pouncey in the 2nd or possibly John Jerry or Vladimir Ducasse in the 3rd.

The lions should trade down and get more picks and maybe a player too. Some teams would be willing to trade up to #2 and give detroit a great offer.
Defence Wins Championships,we need to return to the Bad Boy era.

No team is going to trade up to spend more money on a rookie with a new CBA right around the corner. Every team would like to trade down.... no team wants to trade up.

If Bradford is not taken first you will have teams wanting to trade up to get him so the lions will be ready to wheel and deal. DT Suh can be picked first then the lions then would be willing to trade down.

Return to Detroit Lions
