Stern to ban Caron's straw chewing

He's sitting out against the Lakers tonight, too. Probably due to withdrawals.

I'm still waiting for them to ban chewing on those unsightly, saliva-dripping mouth guards. Jamison's a big offender there, but Stern seems to let the veterans slide. We gotta reach them when they're still young.

Another solid night for both Caron & Haywood last night, Caron played a team-high 40 minutes and shot %50.

From the Mavs vs Hornets thread:

JES12 wrote:DeShawn Stevenson

Why does this guy get minutes? -10 on the +/-. And if you watch the game, he has absolutely no posative impact on the game on either side of the court.

Really, Matt Carroll is starting to look good to me....THAT is how bad Stevenson is.

Oh, and Roddy should have started the 3rd and played man on man with Collison.

 DS must threaten coaches with bodily harm if he doesn't get minutes.

Jared Jeffries has become a regular part of Rick Adelman's rotation with the Rockets.

“I was concerned that I just got traded here because of the contract and there was just one more year on the books,” Jeffries said. “But … I know if I play the way I'm capable of playing, I'm going to play anywhere. There's very few guys in the league that can do the things I do at my size. To have an opportunity to come here with a very young team, I look forward to have that situation and give that effort.”

Mavs still haven't lost post-trade. Curious to see that Haywood played under 30 minutes last night.
What a trade for the Mavs and they didn't even have to give-up a pick.

I thought they lost their 1st game after the all star break, then started winning?

They currently have the longest winning streak going at 9 games....not sure if the trade was 10 games ago...I thought not. :dontknow:

Just checked, they are 9-1 since the all star break. They lost to Oklahoma 86-99 on the 16th, and then have been winning ever since.

Does Bill count?

Bill Walker received his first NBA start on Wednesday in New York's 128-104 win over the Pistons.

Walker finished with a career-high 22 points, and his seemingly endless stream of powerful dunks dazzled the Garden crowd.

“I always thought I could play on this type of level,” Walker said. “It just took awhile for me to get the opportunity.”

Bump for the merge with the "Dallards" thread, how-many former Wizards threads do we need?

Howard Eskin of NBC-10 in Philadelphia reported on Sunday night that the 76ers will fire coach Eddie Jordan after the season.

Eskin added that the 76ers will likely look at Jeff Van Gundy, Jay Wright, Doug Collins and Avery Johnson as Jordan's replacement.

76ers general manager Ed Stefanski wouldn't respond to the rumor.

"I don't comment on rumors," he said.

This story has a ring of truth to it. Damn, EFJ will clear close to ten million dollars for two years work. I wonder if another team will be dumb-enough to offer him a contract.

I think a college gig could be a better fit for Eddie Jordan. The positives of his personality could help him with recruiting. It may be enough to counteract his defensive deficiencies.

What does that say about our organization though, that we held on to him for all these years, he goes somewhere else and gets booted after one year?
Help us, Obi-wan Leonsis. You're our only hope.
