Hechevarria Free to Sign

Does anyone know anything about this guy? Apparently the Jays have interest in him. It would really be nice to fill a position of need with someone young who won't break the bank.

Managed to track down some scouting video of him yesterday, on a site about Cuban baseball players (here). He has a great glove, a bit of power that may not carry over, and doesn't hit for great average. Probably a 9th hitter and great defender in the Yuniesky Betancourt mold (lower average, hopefully slightly more patience), which works for me.

Are you being sarcastic, or did you mean to type the name of... pretty much any other poor hitting shortstop? Because Yuniesky is an awful defender.

Yeah, he is a horrible defender. And I wasn't being sarcastic. I was just making the mistake of posting early in the morning, when my caffeine levels are low and logical thought ain't me...I'd looked up Betancourt to figure out how old he was when he defected, and that apparently turned into Hechevarria = Betancourt.

As always, just ignore me and things make a lot more sense around here.

That's a hell of a grab up the middle.
