Are extensions always raises or within x%?
For example, if the Pistons extend Tayshaun this summer, could they still give him a significant paycut in the seasons past 2010-11?

If by "significant" you mean decreases > 10.5%, then no. But I don't see any likelihood of an extension anyhow, in light of his age, current level of production, injury history, and the direction of the team.
