Edit: Nevermind. Apparently people only use Arkansas to get raises from their current schools. That's two people in the last week (Tuberville too).

That's who they want. He's not interested though.
He's using this as leverage with the State, for the financial support he's after.
Michigan 'insiders' realize this, but are still hoping that their offer (which is expected to come in the morning) will have him jumping at it. Very unlikely, which is why they're most likely going to put a 24-hour waiting period on his response, and then look elsewhere.

Schiano has now officially said No to Michigan ... a year after saying No to Miami.
There is only two possibilities that has him leave Rutgers, and one I don't think he'll actually leave for (Penn State). The other, is an NFL Head Coaching position, for either the Giants, or the Jets. I don't think either would hire him either, because of his gameday abilities.

Found out more about Michigan and their ever-increasingly futile quest to attract a good coach:
Carr is adamant that Ron English be allowed to continue on as the def. coordinator--it's going to be a requisite agreement that any new coach will have to agree to. From what I've been told Miles had no desire to keep him, and that Schiano basically felt the same way. Apparently a lot of different people have approached Carr and told him he might need to soften his stance, but he steadfastly refuses, and his AD is supporting him.
Which brings up two thoughts to me...
1. Why on earth would they cater to a deaprted coach so heavily? I know Carr left on his own will (he did), and they love him at UM and want to keep him prominent in fundraising and PR and so forth, but if this is the deal-breaker it appears to be, they either need to tell Carr to back down or force him to do so.
2. The next coach of Michigan is probably going to be Ron English, and that ensures the Buckeyes will have little problem winning 8 of the next 10 meetings.

Never in a million years would I have expected to read that headline.
I think there's a bit of a shift going in coaching philosophy. Before, coaches almost always took a higher profile position when available, but that's not the case. They like being revered by their school/community and don't have the huge stress, high expectations and scrutiny that comes with taking over a program like Michigan. Maybe the information/internet age is cause for a lot of coaches not wanting to be in the spotlight as much?

He has the connections in GA but I think people are overestimating those connections. Not many big name high school recruits in the state are going to remember a guy who coached at a smalled college in the state.

I know he will have a great offense, but all the stations around Atlanta are saying that he has these great connections around the state from his days at southern. They are overrating those connections.

And after only 3 years...if true I hope Scoop Jackson goes on about how UW is such a racist institution.
well, at least he's "sort of" turning the program around. i will give him another year. he's not on the hot seat yet. this year is a critical year and i think most people are satisfied that huskies showed some competitiveness in some tough games. i'm fine with ty willingham. next year will be "another" critical year.
*and you need to stop the ty willingham and racist thing. it's getting annoying and immature.

Way to overreact Francis. It's pretty obvious that GYBE was bashing the press and was not making any kind of a comment about UW.
Here's a quick key to becoming a good poster...pause for a few seconds and think before you fly off the handle.
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

i just don't want to hear anything about racism ever again whenever i talk about willingham or UW. i'm sick of it. this is like the 3rd time already. how about you understand the situation first before you make any judgment. i'm talking about UW so don't bring that "oh, racism" blah blah blah talk.
