Lions set new record, will they beat it?
The Lions have set an NFL record with just two victories in two seasons, including a winless 2008.

Yeah im not too sure what the heck this has to do with anything. Are you trying to start a convo about if we will win more than 2 next year? Or just telling us something that we know?

Re: Lions set new record, will they beat it?
I was bored ,so i thought i would say something about the lions. No big deal i am sure the lions will do much better next year. But they do need another back-up QB and can't wait to see who they pick -up.
Detroit should pick:Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma
This is a QB driven league and if the Rams don't trade for a QB in free agency or move down in the draft, Bradford is this year's Matthew Stafford. At 6-foot-4 ¼ and 236 pounds, he could be a franchise QB.

Did you really suggest Sam Bradford should be Detroit's #2 pick?

Re: Lions set new record, will they beat it?
I'd like that. If we could land a good trade for Stafford, fine by me. But I would actually still prefer to trade Stafford and still not take a QB, and I advise the Rams to not take a QB either. I want to play the option of seeing how far the 2nd QB can fall, and maybe win there, or likewise with the next group if one of the top guys of that group slips too far. But I'm PLENTY fine with going empty at QB and forcing all of those resources into non-QB and non-RB positions in particular. Empty the chambers on those 2 positions and fortify the fundamental structure of the team. Then if we don't get a QB this year we can draft a QB with our 1st Rounder next year, and we can consolidate up if need be to get a Round 1 RB then. This kind of maneuvering would create nice fringe benefits, but that's getting into a far more complicated discussion at that point.

Free agent quarterbacks left who would you pick to help lead the lions?
Since the lions have not gone after a free agent QB so far they may be looking at the draft trading down they could get exrta draft picks and Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre Dame?

Lions will not draft Bradford. Do some people even listen to those incharge? Mayhew said that he's set at starter with Stafford and has a nice young QB in Stanton as a #3 QB. He's looking for a vet backup, but doesn't have to worry about that now, because he thinks some older QBs will be released that he can sign later on.

Re: Lions set new record, will they beat it?
The quality of free agent QB's is low, so the Lions will have to address that need early in the draft. I would like to see them draft Patrick Robinson (FSU), Devin McCourty(Rutgers), or Kyle Wilson (Boise St) here, although Wilson is probably a cinch first rd selection after an impressive combine.
If they pick up a vet QB the results could end up being the same like Culpepper all over again losing many games again when the lions starter is injured.

I'm with Kellmellus. Draft Bradford and start scouting quarterbacks for next year's draft as well.
Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

LOL@ Genshi
And wow, when you have the best defensive draft in NFL history (and our defense is the worst in the league) and we have a chance to add an instant pro bowl to our defense, Kell wants to draft a QB..... ESPECIALLY when we just drafted a QB with the NUMBER ONE OVERALL PICK last year.
*Slaps forehead*

You guys keep saying over and over and over again on this board how the Lions will not draft Bradford. Why do you guys keep going there or bother even talking about it? I haven't seen anybody on this forum that has ever contested that or suggested that there is any chance that Mayhew would swap his QBs at this point. Mayhew is dead set firm in riding out Stafford and everybody here knows that. All Kellmellus and I are doing by suggesting it is just from a theoretical standpoint of what we think they should do hypothetically if we weren't forced into playing Stafford against our will. It's just an if-scenario that does exist theoretically and we have an interest in exploring that one.

Re: Lions set new record, will they beat it?
Culpepper still unsigned
While it's not one of their more pressing needs, the Lions still need a backup quarterback for Matthew Stafford via free agency or the draft.
The Lions likely aren't interested in re-signing 11-year veteran Daunte Culpepper for another season despite Lions general manager Martin Mayhew saying he wouldn't be against bringing Culpepper back as a backup.
This season's free-agent quarterback class is weak, which helps Culpepper's chances of hooking on with someone else. Culpepper didn't respond to e-mail requests seeking response.
I say do not bring culpepper back,it would be a step backwords i would rather take a chance on someone else .The lions need a QB but we all need to be wise in this selection because of injuries. Most likely this QB will get playing time next season in games that could be very important at the end of the season trying to get into the playoffs.
Tim Tebow #15 QB (You need to think out of the box) look at his TD to int ratio unbeliveable!
(32-6)(34-4)(21-5) than look at staffords 13 TD and 20 Ints(lost us many games) and thats with calvin johnson (go figure!) just think what other QB's can do with CJ
Staffort QB rating =61%
Tim tebow rating = 161 %To 201 % in all of his 4 years
What if we draft Tim Tebow. Oh Lawd!! YES ....bartender you forgot to add YES to your statement
Tebow also revealed Sunday that he already has individual workouts with the Seahawks and Bills lined up after his pro day(the lions need to get on the list,Hello!!!)

Tim Tebow could be a really smart pick for the Lions. But I think somebody will take him before he drops low enough to be a steal for us. Most of the value in picking Tebow cannot be realized though until we move Stafford. It does no good to make your bench better in this game if they don't even get to play!

Again, I am in accord with Kellmellus. Tim Tebow's college TD/INT ratio was much better than Stafford's Professional TD/INT ratio. Therefore, he is the superior player and should be a Lion next season.
Quarterback is our team's main need. We haven't addressed the position in nearly a year and that's tragic.
