O/T: Lil Wayne sent to Rykers Island today
Anyone know anything about how rappers might be treated in jail.
I theorized that he would def be cut off from general population because he would be too big a target to **** with.
Then again, something tells me he'll buy off a crew to keep him away from everyone else.
Anyone ever been to Rykers or know what its like behind those walls?

Probably cut off, because he's a millionaire. And you know, if he wasn't cut off, then he would have to back all that stuff up he's talking in his songs, and that would be a tough thing to do.

Most likely will be on 23 hour lock down for his protection. I would be shocked if he lands in population.
He's probably going to be NASTY when he get's out (ASSuming he puts that pen to work daily). I wonder if they are going to give him a gang classification.

Re: O/T: Lil Wayne sent to Rykers Island today
Celebrity rappers-turned-inmates at Rikers get treated like KINGS...by staff, CO's, warden, etc.
However, treatment by other inmates? Well that's another story. Two things happen: 1). you get the dicc-riders who think if they align themselves with the celeb and "hold him down" that upon their release their efforts will not be forgotten and they will be "taken care of" when they get out and reconnect with the celeb/rapper. On the other hand 2). you got the extortionists and cats looking to make a name for themselves at the celeb/rappers expense. Their mentality is "look, I don't give a phucc who you are...in HERE this is MY WORLD and I'M THE CELEB...now come up off them kicks, my nygga" LOL. So Wayne will never make it to GP (general population) for that reason. He will be in protective custody (even against his own will if he prefers GP). For example, Wayne is a known "blood". You got crips on the Island who'd love to earn their stripes off Weezy F-Baby.
But lets pretend for arguments sake that there was the possiblity of Wayne going to GP. Most of the Island inmates are housed in dorms called "houses" by jail jargon. There are as much as 75 inmates in each house with only 1 CO. The CO goes in the "bubble" (observation room) and isn't always walking the house floor. The house is similar to military barracks. You got 75 beds in the house but sometimes there might only be 60 inmates in the house. Yet still, you got like 10 imates sleeping on the floor despite the 15 extra beds. Lets just say if Wayne was in GP and ended up in a house run by the crips he'd prolly be sleeping on the floor or run out the house by the end of his 1st day in there. Each inmate is allowed phone time. Yet the goon who runs the house (not the CO) is usually the one who regulates the phone. Some goons who are on some dictator schit even sleep with the receiver and take it off the line when they feel like it. If you don't got props in the room but you're lucky, you might be given "Dougie Fresh" (which means 6mins) LOL. From the old skool song lyrics "6 mins Dougie Fresh you're on" LOL. If you go over that 6mins, you might get your jaw broke or your dome cut wit your head stitched up looking like "Mr. Met" LOL

So you mean there are 75 inmates, all together, in one room? Sometimes without a CO?

Yup, if the house is full to capacity. Yet even if it's empty beds available due to the room not being at full capacity sometimes whoever the dude is who runs the house might just make you sleep on the floor...cuz he feels like it. Like he might have his belongings on two other beds cuz he doesn't wanna put his stuff in his chest. Dudes who run the house like to show authority. So they dont lock up their stuff in their chest. They leave it out on empty beds daring anything to go missing. On commissary day everyone gets to go to the store and buy items with the money in their commissary. The dude who runs the house might demand 1 item from everyone in the room upon their return. So he'd have whatever he bought with his own money along with 75 extra items (if the room is full) LOL.
CO's turn a blind eye to all of this type of schit. They call it the "natural order of rank" letting the house run itself. Nature. LOL. Plus it makes their job easier. If things get out of hand then they'll call in other COs or if it's crazy the "Ninja Turtles"

That makes sense. Nothing wrong with it. But I'm wondering how often it goes crazy, and what are the Ninja Turtles?
How does the guy running it establish himself? Does he come in establish or does he usually have to overthrow the previous leader?

Ninja Turtles are a bunch of 6'9" 250lbs COs who look like Al Harrington, LOL. Psyche, nah...but serioulsy, they are the elite unit of COs. They wear armor (looks like shells on their back with shields, weaponry and helmets) hence the name "Ninja Turtles". When they come thru, every inmate must turn and either face the wall with their palms on it, OR get down face-down to the floor spread-eagle (depending on the NT command). No eye contact is allowed and if you turn or attempt to face or look at them you will get your @ss beat royally. You would come out of that beat-down looking like the "Elephant Man" *real talk*
The guy running the house gains control the way any other authority figure would. To be king you gotta TAKE the kings crown. Simple as that. It's not easy either. You gotta have the entire house respect you and your principles as a man too. If they don't respect your gansta your reign will be as short as one day. Lets say I run the house, yet you stab me in my sleep, I go to medical (or die) and you gain control. If the house doesn't RESPECT YOU...you will not last one night because once the house conspires...when you sleep lets just say you might be next to go to medical (or take a "dirt nap").

That's crazy stuff, man. Would you say it's usually the physically stronger people that take control or is it people that have a good balance of intellect, character, but also substantial strength? Is it a guarantee that you have to fight for the throne?

Re: O/T: Lil Wayne sent to Rykers Island today
My mans beat Keith Murray down when he was locked up. And rumor had it Pac didnt have a great stay in Rikers. Thing is, unless its changed over the years, Rikers is str8 red. And he has a so called affiliation with NY DSB's. So he might do fine in that case.
If so, then he should not go PC. Stay in general population. PC would hurt his reputation badly. If its still red then his only major issue would be CO's.

Regardless of if he requests PC or not they will not allow a star of his magnitude to go into pop. It will just end up being a circus (even if it's a positive one). Can you imagine the mess hall when he goes to chow? Can you imagine the rec yard? Can you imagine the amount of dudes just wanting to be around him? No way they put him in pop. Even Shyne wasn't in pop. He was nowhere near the icon that Weezy is. Even if Wayne isn't at risk of bodily harm the warden still won't let him see pop.

What's wrong with wanting to know about how the hierarchy works? Who knows when any one of us will go in. People make mistakes every day.
