This deal goes along the same lines as the one I proposed, young talent + expiring. I'd rather have Rudy/Gibson/picks than Gallo, but If I recall correctly, you've been big on Gallo since his draft year. I just think The Situation should stay in New York, and I'm not sure the Pringles Guy would push for Walsh to add Al, since he prefers to pick up the pace.

If Jefferson has such horrible value now (Gibson/Fernandez or Deng), we should definitely not trade him. His value is super-low, let him get his knee and the rest of his body back to 100% (coming off an injury like that, your knee isn't the only thing that isn't game ready) and let him have a much better season next year.

Exactly. Such a trade would all but guarantee us to be bottome feeders in the West for years to come. I don't have the patience for three more years of crapsketball. I would probably lose interest in the team at that point. Trading Jefferson for Gibson and Fernandez puts us in Nets territory next year.

I've been saying that for awhile now. His play this year, combined with the injury, and the depth at PF available in FA/the draft this year, make it so the market for Jefferson likely won't be booming. The problem is the presence of Love, Pekovic apparently ready to cross the Atlantic, and multiple picks in a strong PF draft may contribute to Kahn wanting to pull the trigger on a Big Al trade this summer rather than wait. Gibson/Fernandez/picks/flexibility was proposed under the premise that, for whatever reason, Kahn's set on dealing Jefferson this summer. My hope is that Jefferson either finishes the year on a strong note, or is given enough time to show the new FO what he's capable of at full strength, but I'm not sure on what the chances of either are.

One could easily say that we'll be bottom feeders for years to come if we don't do something about our interior D and outside shooting (and many have said the same about us if we keep the Alvin JefferLove frontcourt together). How good we are next year will have a lot to do with Pekovic, how our draft class performs and the old McHale-ism "improvement from within," primarily from Love, Flynn, Brewer and possibly Jefferson (and Ellington/Hollins/Sessions/Darko?). If Gibson/Fernandez is the end game, then yes, we remain a bad team, but that's not what was proposed. Gibson/Fernandez/etc. just gives us two young players that have played well for playoff teams and possess attributes we could use, added draft/salary flexibility, and keeps our options open to make a significant move in FA or trade either this year or the next.

Plus, it opens up the possibility of Love initiating the break, and Rubio running it with Brewer and Fernandez on the wings. I think Derek Fisher just crapped his adult diaper.

I'm wanting to trade him, but that's just because I like Love more. But I really don't want to get rid of either of them....Hopefully we'll find a center who can play with them, and they'll keep working on their defense so they can play more together.
