Baseball prospectus and MLB-69 wins

Post#1 » by trellaine201 » Mon Mar 8, 2010 10:22 pm

I watched a one hour show on the BlueJays via MLBnetwork. Their prediction is last place with 69 wins. This will change as personnel changes.

I would be surprised if we won 69 games. Too many question marks-especially starting pitching.

69 wins would be a bad season, by my expectations. We aren't a good team, but below 70 wins is an awful team, and with any improvement from youngsters, we're not that either.

They say that 2011 is a special draft class. I wouldn't be devastated if the Jays finished in last place.

Under 70 wins is what I see for them.

I can see the following scenario happen:

Jays start off to a suprising .500 start making everyone this side of North America believe that we aren't as bad as people think. Then as the grind of the season progresses we start to pile up those 3-4-5 game losing streaks after June.

We are a terrible team. We maybe a below average team if we were in any other division. But in the AL East where we will play NY, BOS and TB 18 times each, the rotation will not hold up.

I'm looking forward to seeing the kids play but i'm fully expecting us to be a terrible team as a whole.

If we are garbage 70 wins +/- if we are an average team 80 wins +/- and if we are a good team that surprised everyone 90 +/- wins.
