HA. That's some funny stuff there. I have lived in Dallas on 2 different occasions in my life and I currently have many close friends that reside in Dallas.

To assert the Dallas fans takey our basketball very seriously cracks me up.

At least with people I know and or the airwaves that is " The Ticket" the Little Mavs as Corby so aptly calls takes a back seat to the ever losing Cowboys. Also, the Mavs get more run when they are winning in that city and if they are not winning they are not talked about.

I will give Dallas that they are a sports town and do take the Cowboys seriously. But all the P1's I hear don't take basketball that seriously.
But, like now they are getting all the hype due to them nipping at the heels of the Lakers.

Mavs are a good team and certainly shall not be over looked, but I would not say nor am I surprised that they/fans are more vocal now as opposed to when they are not on anyone's radar.

I feel like there's been plenty of humility from some Mavs fans too. Of course there's gonna be some whiplash and back and forth, and there was some baiting, but we try to manage this board with fun in mind too, and aren't trying to robocop this place into sterilization.

this particular thread has gotten a little edgy at, but as long as everyone keeps a sense of humor and doesn't get personal we're all good.

Agreed, and I'd take that a step further.

I've lived in Texas for the past 14 years, and I'd wager that basketball is somewhere around the fifth or six most popular sport, behind pro football, college football, high school football, spring football and recruiting.

That apathy stretches well beyond the Metroplex, too. I'd be willing to bet that San Antonio, a massive Cowboys stronghold, would trade all four Spurs championships for one more Super Bowl title.

Not to say that there aren't basketball fans, and good ones, in Texas -- it's just way, way, way down on the list of sporting priorities.

Mavs 2.5GB of Lakers and Lakers have a tougher schedule, but Mavs also have a ton of injuries at the moment. I think LA will end up with the 1 seed, and due to Denver's harder schedule I imagine they will get the 3 seed and Dallas will end up with the 2 seed playing the Spurs.

It's odd to see tougher players like Stevenson, Butler & Marion in Dallas we can no longer pronounce Dallas with a silent D anymore.

Yes, COWBOYS fans are apathetic when it comes to the Mavs.
But of the MAVS fans here, we are serious about the team. Speaking of apathy, aren't Lakers fans infamous for showing up late & leaving early? Not that I blame most of you. I've lived in LA. There's a ton more to do than just sit thru another ball game.

Seriously though, the true, hardcore Mavs fan such as myself, who survived the 90's
embarassments only to be teased, then embarassed by the '06 Finals & '07 PO whimper
have ALWAYS used the Lakers as a measuring stick. Cuban has said many times that his goal
is to build a team that can beat LA, even though we've not met in the POs in what, 20+ years?

So the fact that right now we have a team that looks to match up well with your Lakers and
is nipping @ your heels for the 1 seed is VERY exciting. The Cavs have the best record in the NBA, but you guys are still the standard (plus you're in the West). We could sweep the Cavs, Magic, Nugs, Spurs...whomever, but lose all but one game to the Lake-show and that would be the win the bball fans in this town would talk the most about. You guys have earned that level of respect (not like you give a damn though.) So here's hoping we'll catch you and that we meet in the Finals.

GO MAVS!!!

Here Im going to relay this post from your Mavs board to here so everyone can see how loyal Dallas fans are to their team....

I think your the one who is rediculous and delusional since Im a Laker fan and I dont think we got cheated by any reffs, do I think they make bad calls at times, sure I do but that happens in every game and with every team. Thats part of the game, reffs are humans like me and you and they do make mistakes but to sit here and label our entire fan base and falsley claim or accuse all Laker fans is a lie and it totally false.

Do me a favor go on the Lakers board and show me one thread in this entire year that was started by a Laker fan that has a Laker fans complaining about the officiating.

How about the one where they were complaining Bynum should've got calls during the last Lakers-Mavs game. There were a ton of posts bickering that Bynum is always complaining, BUT also that he should've got those calls from the refs. BTW I'm a Celtics fan therefore I perpetually hate the Lakers.

A TON wow I can go back and point out maybe a couple. Yet we have a few fans that disagreed with certains calls and you point out Bynum which in fact he did get jacked on a few calls, but you label an entire fans base redicoulous and delusional........... Ya I see your point, but maybe your the one who is delusional since you have a Dirk on your avatar and your a regular poster on the Mavs board and I post on the Cs board all the time and I have never seen you there and your sitting here claiming your actually a Celtics fan........... and your calling us delusional??

So which one are you a Celtics fan or a Mavs fan??

That's what I'm sayin DEEP. Whatever Mod ends up reading this, don't take this the damn wrong way, but I think that warning was pretty weak stuff. One of the reasons I've enjoyed posting on this board is that we do have FAIR mods who also allow us to have a good time, but I think my post was taken completely out of context in that there was no consideration to what was said beforehand. Warn me? Fine by me. But there's no sensible reason as to why there shouldn't have been another one handed out as well. I can guarantee if I called someone an idiot on the Mavericks board, I'd get warned right off the bat. That's my point. All I did was stand up for myself, something I think I still have a right to last time I checked. So thank you for the backup DEEP.

This stuff is just becoming comical though. Tony just keep lettin em have it. To compare Maverick basketball with Laker basketball is like comparing the Tampa Bay Rays with the Yankees. Cool, there hot and on a roll, but the comparison is a damn joke.

You can't win that battle, our mods are more lenient than most, it's much worse elsewhere i called a poster on my own Ravens board an idiot in a Ravens football forum when he was ripping on Ed Reed saying he's overrated, he should retire after he fumbled an interception return after running 20 yards and Pierre Garcon ripped him, they banned me forever for saying just that, so we have it better than most, you gotta admit they were right (if not fully, partially) many rules are subject to interpretation, theres a million and one rules I'm sure you walked the line of a few of them, just keep it in house and keep it classy. Doesn't mean you can't take shots, but use your mind not your mouth, it's a bigger blow that way anyway.

Duba I hear you completely I do. I KNOW I overstepped the boundaries on a couple of the rules. NO arguing that. And like I said, I have a great respect for our Mods for not pulling off the bull some boards see like you talked about above. My beef is just that I shouldn't have been the only one to be issued a warning. My warning was legit. I misspoke above. i should've worded that differently. I just think the Maverick fan should've been included in that.

But I love your point about the mind. Just peep my Avatar. One of the greatest "mind-mashers" on the planet today.

Like dcash said, you were warned because another fan reported your post, finding it offensive. You on the other hand have been taking things into your own hand. If you feel offended by someone else's posts just report it and the mods can take action against the user.

We try to be very subjective and if two posters can talk trash without a problem for others we let it roll but if either one feels offended by the other and uses the report button, we are forced to do our job.

Now all of you guys need to stay on topic if you want this thread to last its course.

I feel you brah, but dam its not like we're on a game 7 elimintaion with these country boys. So what, we've lost a few it doesnt mean JACKISH........... As long as we stay healthy I take my Lakers on with any team in this league and I roll with my balls in my hand screaming FTW and FTC.

Love it. I feel you too brah, I just get so damn frustrated with these clowns who think the regular season win streaks equal championships. It's the Mavericks of all people. Hell, if the Celts/Cavs fans get excited, I can understand. But the Mavericks? Come on now. The two things their most famous for are Shawn Bradley getting dunked on repeatedly and the Golden State series. At least be known for something positive before you bust a nut over a winning streak ya know?

I hear you though. As long as were healthy 4 weeks from now, I'd bet anything we're ready to roll on just like 2009.

No offense to you, although judging by how you react so seriously to everything I say this probably will, but how old are you ? And if the Mavericks are such a vile pointless team, why does this all get you so hormonal ?

My first glimmer of basketball was a series between the Mavs & Lakers, to Dallas the Mavs were the good guys, I was young but it was exciting and a big deal, and you know how history goes...game 7, Mavs lose.

But your arrogance is humorous and you'll have to excuse me if I cant help but chuckle at it.

You are way overacting to something to claim to have such confidence in.

That can be true, and evident during Mavs games, with all the tea time fans sitting in their sits like its some kinda opera, but with the big money in LA im sure ya'll experience some of the same.

And yes, nothing really beats out the Cowboys, The Longhorns/College Football or high school, its a football state, which is a shame many are so narrow sighted.

At least Tony knows how to crack a joke or two, you just sound like a complete idiot.

See let me explain something to you and others on here that dont know me too well.

As far as myself, Im not a stats geek nor am I a poster that comes on this board with game plans or why we screwed up last night, or we have the best team that has ever played the game B.S.

Im all about the game and how its played. I played ball what ever game it was football soccer basketball and other sports like surfing snowboarding etc. What Im trying to say is Im all about sports and how its played. Some people say that if I stuck to one sport growing up I would've probably been a pro by now.

So when I sit here on this board I try to enjoy this board and have fun at the sametime.

So when I see threads like this or the ones in June, July etc from other none Laker fans that came on here and started posting B.S about how the Spurs are the team to beat even before season started I laughed my arse off on every reply.

The same goes on this thread.

You have a Mavs poster that came on here and its very obvious that he busted his load after you guys beat us and now your on an 11 game winning streak and now all of a sudden YOU GUYS ARE THE CHAMPS or WE NEED TO KEEP AN EYE ON OUR REAR VIEW MIRROR CAUSE YOU GUYS ARE A TREAT TO US.

I think its funny and a joke when I see threads like this or even when our fan base post garbage like this is the best team ever in Laker history and I hate when our own posters post garbage on our own board and cause I look at it like a none Laker fan saying "What idiot would sit here and claim to be the champs or the label any team to be the greatest when the freakin season hasnt even began yet.

So you can clearly see why I dont take ish like this seriously. Its a Joke and anyone who can sit here in the middle of March and claim they are the best and they will be champs needs to look at the closest thing that reflects posts like this.

For example, last year on the Cavs boards and General Board do you realize how many threads was posted about the Cavs winning the title last year, several maybe in hundreds. Now what happened to the Cavs, they chocked. The samething by Celtic fans and then what happened K.g went down and the only thing Celtic fans could say is "You guys wouldnt have won if we were healthy". In the begining of this season this board was infested with Spurs and none Spurs fans saying that the Spurs are the favorite to win W/C and possibly the NBA title................ Where are all these guys at?

Im sure you have heard of that saying "Dont count your chickens before the eggs are hatched" Well????

You and others fail to realize that ture that the Lakers lack "heart" or "Pau sucks and Fish is old and Kobe jacks up too many shots" so arguing they have "no heart" now is just a way of saying that you have no idea what will happen comes April or which team will be healthy or if Dirk breaks a leg or Bynum hurts a knee. A lot can happend form here till the playoffs and when people post garbage like this they fail to understand that this team no matter what happens or who gets injured is being led by one of the greates coaches and one of the greatest players to ever play this game and histroy and our titles speak for itself and the rest of these garbage posts are simply just that "GARBAGE"

It's as simple as that. Isht happens when talented teams play each other specially come playoffs. I'll tell anyone who wants to listen that the NBA is very predictable than any other major sports in regular season and the Lakers are one of those teams, but that doesn't mean that come playoff time your going to be playing the same Lakers and our history proves that.

Well I knew the second I saw the thread title I knew there was going to be alot of ...... uhhh

Image involved.

The mature fans of every team out there know championships are not won in March, I've had my share fair of fun poking at Suns fans when all they could attain was regular season championships.

But what laka4life said is just ..uhhh wow. And you are completely correct, Phil is one of the best coaches the NBA has had and I can almost assure you you would never hear him say alot of the things laka4life says.

Its all in good fun, you dont really stay a fan of a team like the Mavs who have won jack **** nada and not be able to just laugh at yourself and take things with a grain of salt...aint tha 1st ive seen knee jerking outta our camp.
