Granger Suspended 1 Game

Post#1 » by greenway84 » Tue Mar 9, 2010 10:40 pm

Saturday night's altercation between the Suns and the Pacers will have lingering consequences for both teams, the league said in a release on Tuesday. Channing Frye and Danny Granger each received a one-game suspension, and several others were fined for their roles in the scuffle.

Seems about right. However I cant see why Earl was fined. He was the victim.

What did Granger do exactly that warranted a suspension? All I saw from the highlights was Frye's bushleague screen and maybe Granger shoving him.

Nothing. That's what. The league has finally smiled on the Pacers, making it easier for us to lose without looking like we're tanking. If we were in the playoff hunt, I would say that this is another case of Stern being Stern and passing out harsher punishments for small market teams. Granger came to his teammate's defense, and, just like the brawl in 2004, if that warrants a suspension then Frye should have been tossed when he did it to Watson and Granger wouldn't have had to retaliate. As it was, the refs let the play continue. If you're going to let play continue when Frye does it, why suspend Granger for it? And if you're arguing that play was stopped, why does Nash's basket count when the shove from Frye came before he scored it?

By the way, who's the idiot? "I think he was kind of...warding him off." What a joke of an announcer. And I'll tell you from experience what this guy evidently can't. He repeatedly talks about Hibbert wanting to fight and getting held off by the ref. He wasn't trying to go anywhere, he was just pointing to the replay. It is, though, easier for a shorter guy to hold back a taller guy than a lot of people think. Forget the fact that Nash was there, too. Had he been trying to get back into the mix, he surely could have. But acting like he would blow past the ref with no problem shows complete ignorance towards the shorter ref having a low center of gravity and Hibbert standing straight up the whole time. Again, he would have been able to get past the guy if he wanted to, but it's not like he was faking trying to get into the fight. This guy's a complete moron.

Granger's got too much **** going on right now. It's unfortunate.

Yeah, that commentating job was awful. I like how Frye was "defending himself" despite starting the thing by setting an illegal screen.

We stepped up well without Granger. Rush and Hibbert, especially. Hibbert damn near had a triple-double, 12 points, 11 boards, and 7 assists. He's seriously one of the better passers on this team, between Dunleavy's telepathing, and T.J. Ford's lack thereof. Rush took 20 shots and scored 24 points with 9 rebounds. Dahntay Jones had 25. I've always been a fan of Dahntay Jones. He is turnover-prone on offense, but at least he's taking it closer to the rim.

Wish it would have been ten games so we could lose a few more games
