Only place I've been in Texas that I flat out don't like is Houston. Or as I like to call it, the arm pit of Texas. I don't even mind Dallas. Austin is easily the coolest spot, but I'm digging the affordability where I'm at, so I'm going to do my best to Keep San Antonio Lame.

That's exactly how I view Houston. Of course my sister lived in the 5th Ward when she went to UofH so maybe I don't have the best of perspectives.

You're right about the affordability of San Antonio. Property is stupid expensive here. No wonder so many people commute. SA also has the best damn Mexican food (here it sucks, in general). There's actually a lot about it that I miss.

The "Keep Austin Weird" thing is mostly a college poser "I want to be different" motto, IMO. Yeah it's cool that you can smoke weed here in public and no one gives a damn, but some people try a little too hard to be weird (too many attention whores). For me I just love that is has a great high tech job industry, better scenery, and doesn't come with the whole "I'm gonna shoot you for your Raiders hat, homie" type crowd that I dealt with for 20+ years. The live music scene is "cool and weird", but I prefer quality of quantity anyway. There's some great spots in San Antonio for that kind of thing.

Anyway, I complain about practically everything. It's mind-boggling sometimes.

The pollution and crowd in Houston is pretty terrible. The city is really over crowded and from what I hear from my friends attending UofH, safety isn't great either.

Houston flat-out sucks. All the lameness of L.A. -- traffic, pollution, sprawl -- without any of the benefits. And yeah, that whole neighborhood around U of H is pretty rough. But there are even small pockets around Rice that I wouldn't want to be in after dark. I've been going over there on business for more than a decade, and I just don't like it.

I remember those days, when I used to base my identify on whether or not my favorite bands had "sold out."

The general consensus is that he's a moron. Austin is by far the most liberal/libertarian city in Texas.

I once heard someone say that the only problem with Austin is that it's surrounded by Texas. Having lived all over the state in my 30+ years of being in this country, well, I kind of agree. It's dramatically different than any of the other places I've lived for extended periods or heard about extensively (Wichita Falls, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Corpus Christi, San Antonio, sister in Houston, roommates from El Paso).

i agree, as a music business guy, ive had this running joke for awhile that perhaps we could just move the entire austin area to somewhere outside of barstow, the surrounding environs would be the same for the residents, yet we hipster "323" hotshots could go there without leaving the friendly confines. my favorite band is from austin, SPOON, the scene, especially the recording scene is really good...

PJ is the master of motivation.

He will get this team peaking in May and June.

ive been wondering about that myself,if yr gonna hit a dead zone, feb and march is the time to do it. i heard someone say once that an nba game really has three runs in it, offensively. if that is true lets say, then the season prolly has three real pushes to it as well, and now is not the time you want to be playing out of yr mind...remember the rockets red-glared fizzle after that 22 game streak?

Pau is a little soft. He's been asked to take on a different role by Phil Jackson. They want him to be more of a rebounder and defender. In Memphis he wasn't asked to do anything on defense except maybe grab a rebound here or there and play a lick of D every once in a while. Now he's being asked to guard longer and stronger PF's and C's than he's ever had to before. Its not something he's used to. Maybe he'll never get used to it.

thank you! i was saying this too awhile ago... he is like ten years in the league and being asked to different things, he will come around, he is a smart guy, and will figure it out...plus if i was philup, i'd rest pau for a game or four, let him ponder his role, get his legs back, and also let andrew figure some things out...the only downside is that at this stage in the season, we really need to strive for the two playing together and gain the confidence and chemistry of it all
