OT- Questions About University Of Phoenix

Just wanted to ask a few questions, since they have a campus near you in Delaware, Maryland and Columbia.

Just wondering does anyone have expiriences with online studies? I'm from Europe, and working so I don't have time to sit in classes all day long but I plan to continue with my education so i thought this could be the right place for it.

So, just a few questions, for those who know anything about the topic;

1) Does UOP accepts persons from outside US?

2) How long their online courses, in this case Psychology, lasts?

3) And what's the grand total of $$ to finish such study?

Someone on this board may have some answers to your questions. However, I would think contacting the University of Phoenix directly and investigating their website would be the first step in your due diligence. Good luck in your educational endeavors.

I tried it, but no luck. I've browsed the entire site and could only find some techical support email and they couldn't give me any kind of answers. In order to directly contact them you already have to be a student of theirs, you need some kind of student ID to register (or something like that), and since i'm not, i can't get find anything.

So i just thought talking with someone who has personal expirience would help me the most.

Yeah i found that but still, there aren't many direct and clear answers. It's the financing that confuses me the most. Here, we have a much different program, college is either free or you pay by the whole year.

Here, i see you have to pay by certain credit(s). How much credits does a one year have? Or complete study?

Now, in Enter you information box (on the left) choose Psychology, Master, Online, Croatia. And you'll get all the costs. It would be much appricieted if you could explain it to me how much of $$ we're talking about.

Yeah, I'm afraid so. And it won't be cheap, not from where i come.

There are alot of online learning options for international students. University of Phoenix is the largest for-profit institution operating in the US, but there are lots of other for-profits and non-profits.

See this site with links to places with degree offerings. If you aren't looking to get a degree there are many more options.

I don't have any personal experience with this. I'd recommend looking for an online forum focused on distance learning to get more of a lowdown on what's been helpful to students in your situation.

I used to work at a magazine that covered religious higher education and they did an issue technology in religious education. One of the stories was about online colleges and focused on the University of Phoenix. The author participated in some classes, interviewed teachers and students, and examined the curriculum. Considering he had a traditional and high falutin (Harvard, Stanford) educational background, he could easily have been biased against such a program, but he seemed pretty impressed with what they were doing and predicted that schools like the University of Phoenix would present serious competition to traditional universities in the near future. That was over ten years ago, and I think that future is now.

Considering the sketchy history of correspondence courses and diploma mills, it pays to be wary and do all the background research mentioned above, but online based e-learning has come a long way and is very competitive, and the University of Phoenix still looks like it's the leader in the field. I think if I had to get some degree now, I might consider them or something comparable.

Also consider University of Maryland University College. It's better than UofPhoenix in my humble opinion. UMUC operates like a true traditional institution -- except without the dormrooms and frat parties.
