Re: NBA/ABA Decades League Discussion Thread
Why only focus on the negatives? Also, I don't want to lose because somebody did a terrible writeup for me that misrepresented my team. Why don't we also just draft for each other's teams?

because you'd do your own writeup as well and you'd focus on the advantages. contrast would be nice since obviously user won't bash his own team... I think judges could seperate bull---- from valuable points.
anyway, maybe "only negatives" is too much because sometimes it's hard to point out flaws in some teams. doing a writeup of other user would be fun though.

Re: NBA/ABA Decades League Discussion Thread
People wouldn't be as motivated to do a good writeup in that case. It's fine as is, the only issue I had was the brackets. Warspite, T-Mac and me ended up in the same division. Sabas and Bryant had to face off in the first round. Not much you can do about that though as it was random. Snake suggested ranking teams after the draft and sticking the (perceived) stronger teams in different brackets but then it gets subjective. Meh, all in all this was fun and it ran quite smoothly.

Re: NBA/ABA Decades League Discussion Thread
We had one one time where everyone ranked the teams other than their own, then went off a bracket from that.
I had to go through Snakebites and Sabas (who went through Bryant) just for the honor of going through TMAC who went through Warspite and apparently the best team in this league

We'll see.
But seriously, I had way too easy of a time in the first two rounds.

Re: NBA/ABA Decades League Discussion Thread
I just wanted to say how impressed I was with the number of realy well constructed teams. I saw 6-8 title contenders and thats realy alot more than usual. The seeding and brackets sucked IMHO. Its the luck of the draw but I have never seen where the top 6 teams are all in 1 bracket and the botton 6 teams in another. IMHO every ATL should establish the top 4 teams give them there own bracket and then everyone else can be random.
I have come up with 3 ATL ideas and would appreciate some feedback.
1. Rookie ATL: Only use rookie yrs
2. NBA draft ATL: Every team is required to have a player who was drafted in the NBA draft at predetermined positions ex 1,2,3,4,5,6-8,8-10,11-20, 20-30, after 30.
3. ERA ATL: We did this about 2 yrs ago. We would have NBA history divided into eras (12yrs per era) and each era has its own draft and players can be drafted multiple times. This allows for super strong teams but it also allows every team to have a team that played at the same time and with many of there contemperaries. This also allows for more than 16 teams as the drafts are much shorter. However Im saving this for a time when we can get a huge turnout. This is the best format for a very large league.
Things to take away from this ATL.
1. Judgeing format needs to be in place sooner. Dr Mufasa should be the example for judges and we shouldnt cut corners. Most importantly dont allow Penbeast to vote in my matchup.

...probably six of the top eight teams in one bracket...
I was shocked to get out of the first round going against snake, cellar, and bryant's teams. They were so well built. It was a group of death. Snake and bryant had fantastic teams and I would have liked to see them in other match ups.
It would be ideal to have five highly qualified judges who could be constant through the competition, but it is a bit time commitment.
I don't mind the rookie years idea but I don't like the draft position one. The era draft was fun last time and I'd like another crack at it. We could always do a straightforward ATL but it's nice to add another dimension to it as well.

I love the era idea.
