Does this really surprise anyone?

Bosh is going to have his choice of Miami, Chicago, New York, New Jersey, Toronto, LA.

He isn't coming here and I never expected that he would. He doesn't know Sacramento. Don't take it personally that he is "dissing" on the city. This is priming up to be one of the biggest FA years because big name players are expiring AND big markets are going to be able to spend on them.

And Jarret Jack, really? Really? lol

I dont live in sacramento but every player that has playde for the kings for a long time ends up loving it. Webber hated it at first then was devistated when he was traded and now has a resturant. Bobby jackson stayed, shareef was here for like 2 years and wanted to stay as a coach, peja said its his like his home. They were just pissed they were getting whooped. Give it 2 years and thats all it takes it seems. Thats why i hope that landry will end up loving it in sactown.

You know, I think people are just completely overreacting to this. This is nothing more than 2 players trying to shut down an annoying, heckling fan who's being a pain in the ass. What exactly would you expect Bosh...or any player...to say to a heckling fan who's bugging them during a game? "Yeah, bro, I'm totally going to sign here this summer"! Get real!

Players are going to make decisions this summer based on what will give them the best long term opportunity. Anyone who thinks would have a reasonable shot of signing Bosh this summer is just fooling themselves. The Kings just don't have the resources to entice him.

Like I said in the other thread, once you go Sac, you never go back!

Is there really a big deal here? I mean, what is Bosh supposed to say?!?! He's getting his butt kicked, what do you expect!!! Hahaha.

Have you been ANYWHERE else? I've lived in Sac my entire life too, but honestly, if I was a top NBA player in my prime (Lebron, Bosh, Wade, Roy, etc.) there is ZERO chance I come to this current King's team, unless if I had personal ties to the city.

Sacramento is boring as hell compared to your other choices. Even other small market cities like San Antonio, Salt Lake, Portland, Atlanta, Houston, (etc, etc.) all offer more within their respective city. Yes, we have SF and Tahoe close by, but if you were making 18 mil a year and could essentially go to any city, would you really even consider Sacramento?

Now, if we were winning, it would be a different scenario.

Sacramento can keep or attract FA when we are good, but we can't attract them when we're a bottom feeder. The only problem is, by the time we do become better, we most likely won't have the cap room to sign anyone.

The market size doesn't always have a strong correlation with population in the general metropolitan area. In terms of population...

NY >> LA >> Chicago >> Houston, Boston, Miami, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Dallas > Detroit, Washington, Phoenix

...and Sacramento is not one of the big boys. Dallas-Fort Worth may have a lot of people, but damn that place is a ****hole.

In terms of sports market size...

NY, LA >>>>> Chicago, Houston > Dallas, Detroit

...and Sacramento is right there (along with a few other cities) below those six (despite what the Maloofs might say, of course), probably in the top third, and certainly in the top half.

Well, anyway you cut it, though, there is no way you can rightly consider Houston a small-market team. Of course, it also helps that they have Yao. I mean, the man got Chuck Hayes a $6 million US dollar shoe endorsement deal in China. That's right, Chuck ****ing Hayes.

I don't know why so many NBA players dread Sacramento. I imagine the city may be too tame for the party boys by NBA player word-of-mouth...

And I've been in Portland before and I like Sac better. And if Sac sucked so bad why was Rubio willing to come here but not to MIN? Why was Tyreke Evans and Jennings and other rookies wanting to come to Sacramento over other places? Tyreke said before the draft on twitter or whatever that he loved Sacramento and he wanted to play here, when he could've said he wanted to play in Memphis or LAC or OKC who all had higher picks and would've given him more money.

Did I say Sacramento was the worst city to live in? Have you seen any of those cities sign any major FA or any major FA say they want to go there? And Indianapolis and Detroit are far more exciting cities than Sacramento. Remember, these players would be living in the best locations and be able to hang out in the best locations as well. While in Sacramento, you have King's bored King's players walking around in the Galleria.

Why those players wanted Sacramento over the cities you listed?
LAC - Second worst management in the NBA and will always be a nobody in LA
Mem - Not really a big city either. Horrible management and team direction. (Rubio also had very negative remarks from his fellow Spaniards about Memphis)
OKC - OKC is boringer than Sacramento. Plus, Rubio would have been in Westbrook and Durant's shadow. Evans wouldn't be nearly as effective in OKC as well. No coach would give Evans much of an opportunity to take over games when you have Durant.
Min - Rubio would have gotten more money in Sacramento (reason he's not in Minn is cause he doesn't have the money)

Sacramento isn't the worst place to be in...but it certainly isn't in the top half either.

What are you talking about? Detroit far more exciting than Northern California? It leads the nation in unemployment.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/12/1 ... 94559.html

It also has a murder rate among the highest in the country. In fact it has a violent crime rate more than 3 times higher than the national average.

At this point Detroit is like Barter Town from Beyond Thunderdome. All hail the honorable Mayor Master Blaster.

I agree, but I'm hoping we might get someone in FA.

Your statement is very logical.

OT question - if we build a new arena, and The City and Developers make efforts to revive the downtown area, Would that helps us attract FA?

I have never visited the United States, But my aunt is an american citizen, she lives in davis california, and she said Sacramento downtown area is horrible, thats why I'm asking the question....

See OKC is not "more boring (boringer makes you sound like an 8 year old throwing a fit)" Than Sacramento. The women are NICE in Norman anyway. Yes I rate cities based on the friendliness of the opposite sex. If I were a free agent I'd go to Phoenix for sure.

Anyway, this whole city thing is over blown. They travel so much, and in the offseason they go "home," so the actual city they are playing in is temporary. I think money and situation TRUMP city.

Market wise we are actually somewhat comparable. Its the fact that our city and downtown area sucks balls. Sacramento is a good city to live for specific people. People who want to raise a family. People who enjoy a quiet and safe and overall pretty good lifestyle. However, Sacramento is a TERRIBLE city to live in if your young, rich, and want to have fun. I don't know Chris Bosh personally, so I can't tell you if that's him or not. And I don't know you. By your comments, I'm assuming since you've lived in so many places, you are very likely older than 30 years old. In which case, Sacramento would be a good place for you to live.

Think about it this way, if your a typical 10 year old and you have a choice of going on vacation to anywhere in the entire world. Would you really choose somewhere like Sonoma or Napa or Monterey Bay? For an adult, absolutely, those places are very pretty and very nice. They might not be the best, but certainly aren't terrible and still some quality vacation destinations. Plus, financially they aren't bad choices either. However, the 10 year old, is NEVER going to choose those destinations. Instead, he's going to want to go to Disneyland or Hawaii or New York City.

Good points, I see what your saying.
Sometimes you just have to look yourself in the mirror and say....Tyreke Evans.
That just happened.

Yes. The reason Sacramento sucks so much is because our downtown is horrible and theres absolutely nothing to do (within Sacramento). The reason I would rate most other small market cities higher than Sacramento is because their downtown is a lot better. Sacramento is simply residential houses with chain stores spread all around. There is limited culture and nightlife.

But again, winning > city (unless if your Lebron and can take any team from bottom feeder to contender) . However, currently we aren't winning and our city sucks

I'm sure that's why Brad Miller will end being a non-paid coach for us in the future.

Don't get me wrong...I think the Kings might put together a package to entice some FAs. I just think it may be a long shot for some of the big names (most will resign with their current teams anyway). More than likely they will need to put together a S&T deal for a FA who wants out of their current situation.

that was the wrong response to give. if anyone knows the harm these kinds of comments have it's Bosh who has been trying to make Toronto a more attractive place for free agents. Sacramento is just as great an nba city as any ouside the 8 or 9 largest ones.

Than you haven't been to Canada my friend.

I had to pipe in because I think this is (a) hilarious and (b) Jack out of all people should shut his mouth. He's lucky he's getting the minutes he is, although he has earned it to some extent.

Return to Sacramento Kings
