Gentry loss his damn mind
Gentry says Kobe is better than Jordan and he's the best closer in NBA history. LOL I'm going to go ahead and say he was trying to make a joke.

Hey I can't deny it, what Gentry said is true. Sure he's one arrogant SOB and the Lakers fanbase is arguably the worst in pro sports but I wont let that cloud my judgement. He's the type of guy where you love him if he's playing for you or hate him if he's playing against you.

+1 to MVF. If Kobe played on any other team not named the Lakers I'd probably be more of a fan.

I don't think he's a better closer or player than MJ but he's absolutely ridiculous.

He doesn't want to provide any bulletin board comments Kobe could use against us. It was a smart lie by Gentry.

Pick your poison
I thought this was referring to Gentry getting the double T....
They had to be issued with a bang bang. I have not scene a clip of his explosion, other than the restraint. He was justified with the outburst. but it sure was not great timing . Two shots plus the ball could have been a 6 pt swing, and never would have happened if the 'constant' call was made. Gasol perhaps wasn't trying to clobber Lou... but he sure did.
Strange how one or two plays down the stretch can really alter the outcome.

Re: Gentry loss his damn mind
Gentry didn't cost us this game though. We had over 5min to play and even though every point counts, if we were really as good a team as some people say we are, those two points wouldn't have mattered if we executed.
I don't see anything wrong with what Gentry said. It's so highly debatable I don't think anyone would be wrong. It's not like Gentry said B.Roy is flat out better than Jordan, if he did, then you can go at him.

Re: Gentry loss his damn mind
I dont agree with alvin, in fact I dont have kobe above magic or bird yet either, he's in my top 5 for sure... but honestly I don't have a problem with that particular argument at this point . He is certainly in the conversation as best player ever.
Unless your name is wilt I dont think anyone who finished their career before the 80's is in the conversation. It was a different era and while I think there are a few players pre-1980 who would be studs even today (Wilt, Oscar Robertson), most players wouldn't achieve the same success in this era.
The problem Kobe will have is that he will never be considered the "winner" MJ is even if he surpasses him in rings... after all he had shaq for 3 of those and was basically considered robin to shaq's batman (or perhaps superman), fair or not.
Also, it will hurt him that Mj took a break when most people assume that he would have won at least 1more title.

Re: Gentry loss his damn mind
I dislike him mightily as a person but there is no denying that Kobe is just plain ridiculous, as our boy rsavaj put it. There's maybe no deciding who's the best ever but he's in the conversation with Wilt, MJ, Magic, Bird. Russell I also think of as the consummate winner; he may not have made game winning shots particularly but he dominated in so many ways, and as a leader, and did in fact score a whole lot more than people tend to recall.

Re: Gentry loss his damn mind
Alot of people have this idea that there will NEVER be anyone as good as Jordan. They wont even entertain the idea. IMHO, Kobe is at that level. I even think Kobes defense surpasses Jordans. I think in another 4 years Lebron will be at that same level.

No way better than Jordan. MJ had control over everything, always.
